This guide will show you step by step how to manually initiate construction of any ship you buy without having to wait years for the resources to never arrive. This is a temporary solution until trading is fixed.
1) First talk to the Ship Merchant of choice and design your ship.
2) Before you officially buy the ship take notes of all the resources its listing as requirements in something like notepad "or use pen and paper".
3) Buy the ship then save your game.
4) Close the game and find your save in Documents>Egosoft>X Rebirth>randomfolderwithnumbers>save
5) Open the save using a text editor, preferably "Notepad ++"
6) Hit CTRL+F to open find this macro "buildmodule_ships_" in my case it was "buildmodule_ships_omicron_l_macro" which is building out of Omicron Lyrae. Yours may be different depending on where your ship is dry-docked.
I haven't yet done stations so I cannot say for sure. However I could assume that the macro starts with buildmodule_station and the same concept would apply where you change the list of wares to 0, however I wouldn't know the consequences of that. If you can't find that I'm sure you could search for "buildmodule" until you come across something massive enough to be a station. Good luck!
Well, yes, i tried to find something with "buildmodule" (and i changed them), but it's too many matches so i didn't get, which was what I was looking for.
Tomorrow I will try testing stations, I just got finished altering faction information. I believe that the Unknown Factions in the campaign became known due to a trigger from the storyline, however in free play it is permanently unknown. That is until I found some interesting variables to play with. I'll post updates on these things later.
The help focuses on how to add resources to your constructor ship, but the section called 'resources' works the same as the resources in a station's build module - you can 0 those out just as you would for a station, rather than adding resources to the construction ship.
Man I wish I had this info two (well day 3 now) days ago lol. My ship is still at 0% sitting at the Hot Air Ship yard in Devries.
No way for me to write down any info bits as I already bought the ship days ago...wish there was a damn "Cancel" button for the build.....hell they should have "cancel" buttons for everything in this game lol
The only way to repair in game is to fly the Rhahanas into the dry-dock by speaking with the Ship Merchant while it is in sector with you and ask him to repair the ship. You can also do upgrades here. However it doesn't fix anything, and thats why we've been struck selling and remaking severely broken capital ships. I read somewhere that the engineer will fix things to 75% health and that works.

Your save does not include a lot of construction ques embedded inside it. I'm sure if you follow this guide you may find only 1 or 2 ships actually being built in which case you could just finish them both. Another clue is the name of the macro, which indicates what system its building in.
But ya personally I spent 6+ hours trying to figure this out because it just completely broke the game for me, and with boarding not working how am I supposed to build a fleet? lol
boarding is working...
just be sure that ship you board having cons drones,
or add them by editing savegame.
after that engineer would fix all except hull to 75%
after that you can repair in shipyard if yours working properly.
(but that will cost you MUCH).
Well the issue I had was I was boarding ships with no docking port, like the Gangrene. They say hold on while we bring a captain onboard, however it sits and since there is no way to place an engineer on the ship it doesn't repair the jumpdrive and engines.

Fen, thank you for posting the help. I hope tonight I can get in game and well...before that Ima try n hack my ship out of dry dock via XML lol.
Cheers!
I'm happy I can be some help! Thanks
There is a post floating around regarding manually undocking a ship. If its a built ship that you had docked to repair or something and its stuck you can try and find 2 lines in the save and delete them.
They will say something in regards to a connection so search for that word. Once deleted it will be free from dock.
I found how to "undock" your ship from a shipyard if it bugged while doing repairs / loading drones / loading turrets
ie : the ship IS docked, but won't do anything anymore, commands are greyed out, ship dealer don't want to build anything, ship don't get repaired / fixed / equiped
When the shipyard is constructing a ship and the ship stays at 0% completion it would be safe to assume that the station lacks the resources required to complete the ship. Which, instead of delivering the wares in-game, this "edit" is actually detracting from the purpose and rewarding feeling you get when your ship has been completed the "right way". Keep that in mind, some people like to play a game for the long haul. They, and you may not realize the actuality of "why it isn't working".
How would one do this for a npc ship being built? I've looked through the save and cannot find any resources listed, or required. Is there a way to cancel the builder order or complete the build order?
