[Major bug] Savegame disappearing

I was playing for quite some time yesterday, mostly using the quicksave (F5) to save my progress. When I wanted to continue playing today, I noticed that my savegame was gone.

I mean, it's already bad enough if a savegame is corrupt or something, but these saves just disappeared. Restarted the game, restarted Steam (just in case cloud synchronisation was causing the problem), the savegame is still gone.

If you look in the save folder (in your Documents folder under X Rebirth) what files do you see there? Please also check if there are two save folders, on in the X Rebirth folder itself and one in the numbered Steam ID folder.

"C:\...\Egosoft\X Rebirth\" contains a numbered folder (my Steam ID, I guess?).
The numbered folder contains "config.xml", "progressbar.xml", "uidata.xml" and another folder called "save".
There are five save files, which are the "normal" savegames I created. Four of them are from Saturday, one is from today. Missing is at least the quicksave from yesterday (Sunday).
No other files/folders can be found in that path.

Hm, I have no idea how that can happen. Our code has a failsafe sequence involving temporary files to make sure saves that do not complete successfully cannot overwrite good ones. I can only imagine this is a Steam Cloud synchronisation issue. Have you tried switching that off?

I don't think corrupt files are the cause for this problem. A Steam cloud issue (like you suggested) sounds much more likely. Anyway, I'm playing my new savegame, thanks for the quick replies

The failsafe doesn't work sometimes I've had the game give me a "Save Failed" and if it was overriding a save, the game would delete the old save. I have had it happen to me twice. I'm am unsure what causes the save failed, if you could tell me what causes the save to fail, I can try to reproduce the deleted save and get back to you.

Also since this is related, I have had the quicksave (F5) load the last quick save a couple of times.

Good day!
My game crushing every second time when I am trying to save. It is every 20 minutes approximately. And current SAVE GAME file becomes erased/corrupted.

How can I fix this bug? I can no longer tolerate this abuse.
