Jokes aside they've made so many things that should be simple to do extremely tedious and annoying instead, so we'll be seeing tonnage of mods designed to undo those mistakes.

What would probably work better than the current version is one that allows you to call people up on the station that you're currently docked with, while in 'walk-around-mode'. That'd make much more sense for repairing your ship and such; you'd still have to dock but wouldn't have to leave your ship and walk around.
I'm not certain how to handle that, though; I'll have to look around and see if there's a way to open a comm link to the dock that you're currently inside.

WHERE ONLY PEOPLE can download, who become
MEMBER OF NEXUS and you MUST PAY FOR A MEMBERSHIP !!!!
I think that should not be done or be promoted in an Egosoft Forum, if you have to pay for X-Rebirth Mod files.

Hey guys, I am currently throwing around some ideas in my head to improve the usability until someone figures out how to create display panels.
Currently, I have two ideas:
1) Structure the menu to select the station first, then choose the dock, and then see only NPCs on that dock. However, this might be still confusing since you don't know what NPCs will be on that dock, so you might have to go through a lot to find the NPC you want.
2) Structure the menu so as to select the NPC type first (i.e. have entries for Pilot, Engineer etc.) and then when you select it you get only NPCs of the chosen type. This should make it much faster to get the NPC you want (though there are still 20 or so types of NPCs).
What do you think is better? I favor the second option.
Other thoughts:
- add configurable parameters for 1) being allowed to comm in combat, 2) max distance from station (can be infinite), 3) max distance for trading (if I can figure out how to disable only the trading conversation entry for traders), 4) having to dock for hiring (again only if I can figure out how to disable the hiring option)
Any more ideas/inputs on what I should do?

Can you maybe implement it differently into the UI? As in: You have to target a station (part) and then you get the option to comm it and then get a list of people you can interact with? Thus you still need to be near it but don't need to dock.
IMO most other options are a bit too easy for the player. Then again, that's what many seem to want so yeah.
