I'll be really disappointed if I can't just hang out on a cap ship I own and order my empire from there.
Makes no sense whatsoever to limit this.

Answer seemed weird and unclear though so there's still hope, maybe. Will just have to wait and see.
Excitement levels certainly have gone down though.

i think the "land on deck an command a capital" was misinterpreted by the community. i got the feeling it should more be imagined like nowadays aircraft carriers, you sit on deck (like an aircraft ontop of a carrier), maybe on a landing platform, an command it from there, While inside the skunk, yet parked on the hull of the ship.

It looks like Bernd is talking here about "direct commanding", thus face-to-face speaking with the commander, which isnt possible, as we knew already:
Yes you can land on them, yes you can even stand on platforms on those ships while they are flying which looks super cool, but no you can not be in a room just to command the ship because that would just slow down the process of playing unnecessarily.

So face-to-face speaking with captain about orders is slow.
Using radio communications to talk with captain while you are inside of his ship is still something that we don´t know anything about.

Here is one old question from the Reddit Q&A:

From the gamescom demo.
The radial menu that is available to you anytime when you are in "walk" mode (station interiors, Skunk interior and capital ship interiors).

I couldn´t read some of those options, but I was able to understand at least "Modes", "Universe" and "Crew". (This is maximum resolution available)

According to this, the "modes" which Bernd is talking about are not available only on the Skunk, but also in "walk" mode.

And that "Universe" option is very interesting IMO, because its possible that you will be able to select the capital ship in which you are inside and communicate with captain via that (same as selecting a ship from map, and then selecting "comms" option to speak - from previous games).
#4 is Trading, I can read that one pretty clearly.

You can park the Skunk in the bigship's docking slip. You can walk around on the dock's floor (which might also be called a deck). If the bigship jumps you and Skunk jump right along with it.

But there is no bigship flight deck, or observation deck, to hang out in.

Hmm, if that is so, then there's really no point to the ship's hangar at all, or is there? It won't even even provide a fun experience, like in X2 where you could fly through a station's interior right into the docking bay, because afaik, the docking is now done by your co-pilot?

If you are so certain it's going to suck, just quit the Egosoft forums; there's no point being here if you have no intention of buying Rebirth and insult anyone who is excited for the game as a 'mindless fanboy'.

If you are so certain you are going to hate Rebirth, just leave the forums. You have the right to not like the changes Egosoft has made with X Rebirth, but you don't have the right to insult the people who do like the changes.
First, I didn't insult anyone who is hopeful for the game so you can get off your high horse now. I also never said I don't intend to buy it. Second, I only criticized game features or the lack thereof. No, I'm not certain the game will fail, nor do I want it to. I want the game to succeed, believe it or not. And no, I will not leave the forums. I haven't seen a rule that says "only those who most assuredly will buy the game and fanboyishly defend it can post on the forums" so your point is invalid.

Look, I play the X series since Rebirth. I bought every single X game in existence and I got others to play them because they are awesome. I was quite active on the forums too, helping new people, explaining things, I even helped out on some mods and built one myself too. I spent literal MONTHS of gametime playing. If that's not dedication and love for the series, I don't know what is.

BUT that doesn't mean I have to take everything from Ego at face value and watch as they ruin a series I loved and supported for the better part of the decade. It's not about "if you don't like it, leave", it's way more than that. We, the players, the fans, the modders, WE made this series successful. We bought the games, we advertized the f... out of it to friends and on the internet, we spent a lot of time playing it and talking about it. Without us, the series will be nothing. Now, that doesn't mean I'm not thankful to Egosoft for making the games, they are heroes, they went against the popular tide and kept making a very niche game series and they worked close with the community to make it even better for US.

But with Rebirth they seemingly turned their backs on us. They decimated the features and gameplay we loved for many years, took away most of the freedom and control we had in favor of stupid gimmicks and spectacle nobody wanted. The more info is rolling in, the more interviews I see, the sadder and angrier I get, because Rebirth pisses in the face of everything the series stood for since. And if you are entitled to fanboi about Rebirth, I'm entitled to question and debate it.

Catering to the lowest common denominator is a good way to get some new players spend a few hours with the game then forget it forever. It's also a good way to piss off and lose long time fans of the series. Sure, it means sales, and it's good for Egosoft. But this is what "selling out" means. There is sizable hardcore playerbase who kept the series alive for many years, despite space simulators turning into a non-existent market in the past decade. It it weren't for us, Egosoft would've gone down the drain years ago. It's all about corridor shooters and interactive movies now, and it seems they turned to that market, the twitchy children who only need spectacle, explosions, QTE and get a brain hemorrhage if they need to solve a problem harder than pressing buttons flashing on the screen. These are also the kids who throw a game away the second it fails to hold up their ADD riddled attention span and never come back to it. With Rebirth going the way it is now, it's a good way to gain a lot of disposable players who's parents fork over the money, play for a few hours and leave never to be seen again. But that also makes most of the old fans go away, because they series they all known and loved for years doesn't exist anymore in Rebirth. And I'm not the only one who thinks this way either. Look around the forums, long time fans all questioning these new "features" and stand baffled by the removal of the ones that were the staple of the franchise until now. And yes, I'm sad and angry about that. Deal with it.

But what fleet admiral sits in an F-22 giving orders to his fleet when there's at least three separate war rooms on the carrier for that exact purpose? They should have a war room set up with monitors displaying feeds from half a dozen camera drones zipping around the battle. The captain and some random crew should be there to take orders. Even if, at the end of the day, you're still using the radial menu to give the orders, it makes you feel like someone in command.

Well this whole thing just made me lose a whole lot of interest in the game.
Looks like I might need to wait 1-2 years just to get a decent game.

Hopefully BANISHED comes out soon to keep me entertained.

Further, you'll still have to have some kind of management going on there, rather than just hiring them and doing nothing more - in a trucking company the company usually tells the traders what to ship and where, for example, even if they did hire the actual truckers. You can't expect the truckers you hire to plan all their routes, get all their contacts, etc all on their own, especially if you aren't paying them any kind of salary or anything like what was happening with the Mk 3.

Yeah, it kinda sucks that it looks like traders can't trade between NPC stations without your direct orders at game launch, but the Mk 3 was never particularly realistic and it was nothing like an industrial machine.

You don't seem to understand a bit about what i talking about...
First THIS IS A DAMN GAME, not a society simulator, a game is supposed to be FUN, you PLAY a game, so i don't see any issue with easy money in a VIDEO GAME.
MK3 is perfectly realistic, since stations emit their price and stock and that you ship flight automatically, i don't see why a super advanced futuristic computer of a space ship can't just EXACTLY LIKE our computer finally do, identification where to buy and where to sell.
How you think the game know where to buy and where to sell ? simply cause your computer handle it, so if in a video game your computer can do it, i don't see why one specially created for this inside a space ship can't do it...
Industrial machine and society of truck is just example of how someone who own a big society can simply while invest in a expensive things that don't need him to make it manually to simply make easy money...
Do you think that a guy who own an airline company will himself planed the flights ? Haha the only thing he will do is to give is clearance to buy new airplanes, and it is even not him that initially know that this is a nice thing to do, he paid people that have for job to make him get more money and know where it is time to do something.

And over the fact that this is realistic and that their is no problem in a VIDEO GAME to have easy money rather than need 2 year of 8h per day playing for buying a ship (and i don't talk about capital ship here) it still be that if you invest enough you can make easy money in real life, why the hell you think people invest ?
Like one of the top most rich people today, one of them have simply put money in the phone network in the USA, a simple investment that make him now having EASY money without need to care about, i'm planed to create my own business, a big society, and i perfectly know that when you simply invest enough or find a good spot in the right sector of activity, you can simply get a lot of money while doing almost absolutely nothing.
Look at Mark Zuckerberg, do you really think that he is working everyday on Facebook ? haha he can do it, he have the coding knowledge for this, but he just paid people for this, cause he have way enough money to do this, do you think he have since the last year use ONE the moderating tools ? No he paid people for this...
He do absolutely nothing except sell everything he know about your life (everything basically) to the US Government, and he get paid for just enjoying to do nothing.

So yes in real life their is TONS of things we can do to get easy money without even have to care about, their are just only open to people already rich (cause you need to invest a lot in it) or to those who are smart enough for find the idea.

So again i don't see any issue with money machine in VIDEO GAME.
OMG i don't believe it ^^^^, anyone seen the movie ( The Creature from the Blue Lagoon ) ? but i think communication might be possible in the next thousand years......

Come on dudes. 21 days left. Not much, we can hold it now?

I think that time flow is quite fast now, fortunately.
Gosh - yesterday, it was 40 days to Rebirth, and today its 21? OK, Iam not complaining. Sure, I love to talk about Rebirth, but personal insults and insults towards the devs is not right thing. The game is too close to release anyway, they dont have time to add & test any new features. So why doing this? :)

AND against other posters. Specifically, your most recent one against Playbahnosh. People have been warned several times by moderators and admins to stop insulting other posters just because they disagree with them. Well, you've finally reached the limit, Gupster, and have succeeded in getting this thread locked. And you're very close to getting a formal warning! Enough is enough!
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.
