It will likely unlock at Midnight in each select region, that's been my experience with previous pre-ordered/preloaded games on Steam.

Good thing I took the 15th off..

^ hey guys? some folk here may be dishing out incorrect information regarding the XRebirht Game sales here. (unintentionally, and due to misunderstanding the difference between a COLLECTORS Edition release and a LIMITED release)

My understanding of Pre Orders is that by their very nature they do not become 'sold out'. The whole point of taking Pre Orders for a product is that the distributor (including Egosoft in this case) can place a firm order from the supplier which has been determined by their pre-orders.

There is no cap on pre-orders. The more the better. They are accepted for as long as pre-orders arrive prior to the cut-off date, which is soon followed by the Release Date of the product.

So I am not sure some of the claims here by other forum members that the collectors edition is 'sold out' is correct.

This is not a limited edition, it is just a collectors edition. If you are in the business of sales you will understand that the whole point is to sell, and not to limit those sales.

I may be wrong about this myself but it makes no sense to me otherwise.

Having said that I am at a loss as to why this thread has still not been updated by the OP.

EDIT /Update 2: Now noticed that the Egosoft Shop German CE reflects the Deep Silver announcement (but without using the word 'limited'), but the English (UK) CE remains unchanged.

Egosoft could you please clarify this for us English language people?

Will the English Collector's Edition contain the same items the German edition does? It does not appear that way on the Egosoft storefront. I want to order the collectors edition, but if it only contains the digitized versions of the books and art, then I won't bother.

Yes, it will - they've just corrected details so they match German version contents.

There's only one version on the egoshop so id guess that the first CE that was added to the shop has all of this stuff.
