^ alpha version man. just ignore.
adding: how many npc's does it take to make things seem real anyhow... even on the Citadel (in ME/2/3) it looked like it was abandoned most of the time ... but did not really detract from game because OF ALL THE OTHER STUFF...

With just two full month and half of August and half of November until release, there is not much space to change huge design things.
They might be able to replace textures and those stylish things but i seriously doubt that they are able to introduce a lot more NPC.
But in the end you have to accept that X-Rebirth is mainly a space simulation. The walking around in the stations is nice but not the core element of the game.

With all due respect, what Citadel did you visit? Because I distinctly remember many npc's on that station wandering about.ThommoHawk wrote:^ alpha version man. just ignore.

The savegame in the leaked demo is dated 8.9.2013, and the game version is listed as 1.0.With just two full month and half of August and half of November until release, there is not much space to change huge design things.

What point are you trying to make? The savegame is from the 9th of August 2013 and the version is 1.0. What about? Usually 1.0 without appendix is used for the first final version.Dungeoncrawler wrote:The savegame in the leaked demo is dated 8.9.2013, and the game version is listed as 1.0.
But in games you don't have maintenance. You have only one release. That way it would be possible to have 2.0 as the release version but I seriously doubt that.

No point, just stating a couple of facts. Admittedly the official videos released look significantly better than the leaked footage. Look, its real simple. Because of Egosofts past positive performances I'm not trying to label them anything bad. I don't care personally for some of their design decisions. However I do care about their stellar post-release support. As it stands right now I'm still excited about the pending release, but have that little irritating tickle feeling in my stomach. Btw, here is a video of alpha footage from Gamescon 2011 for comparisons.martens wrote:What point are you trying to make? The savegame is from the 9th of August 2013 and the version is 1.0. If the new build game wasn't dated a couple days ago, and the guy didn't JUST buy the key on ebay last week....elexis wrote:You do know that X Rebirth has been in the Steam Database for almost a year now? It's very much possible that the video (which i havent seen) is old.
Your glasses are a nice shade of rose.

For the size of the station and it's purported status as the capitol of space, it's pretty underpopulated.Dungeoncrawler wrote:With all due respect, what Citadel did you visit? I mean X rebirth at least has the justification that a lot of these are just regular stations and thus might not be exactly teeming with people.

No, it is an iMac. You can tell by the silver strip, which is where the Apple logo is. Apple displays do not have that.ThommoHawk wrote:OK; about the PC Bernd is using to do the demos for us?
It is a windows PC using a Mac as monitor.
It has been possible to install Windows on Mac hardware since 2006, when Apple moved to using Intel processors. It is run completely natively, without virtualisation or emulation, and with no performance hit.Edit: it could be Mac with Windows if it is possible to natively dual boot a Mac like that - im a bit out of touch with Macs nowdays. Used to have to run a copy of windows in the Mac OS under Windows Emulation.... which would cause a performance hit (so I doubt it is that).

Thank you, and this is correct. And again, no imac except a very expensive top of the line 27" would be able to play Rebirth unless the specs listed on steam are a complete lie. And this one in the video is no 27"DavidGW wrote:No, it is an iMac. You can tell by the silver strip, which is where the Apple logo is. So again, the reason Bernds video looks good is because he is either playing a module of the game used for testing without the engine bogging it down, or he is actually watching a prepared FRAPS style video from another computer. Period

Only if your opinion of "play" is reserved to high graphics settings only. The idea that a game won't run (or even be enjoyable) on a computer a little under the minimum requirements is preposterous.BarrenEarth wrote:And again, no imac except a very expensive top of the line 27" would be able to play Rebirth unless the specs listed on steam are a complete lie.
The first time I played Crysis was with a computer with half the graphics card that was recommended (a 128MB 8600M GT).
Did it run? Yes.
Did it run on high graphics, and resolution? No.
Did I still enjoy the game? Yes.
How do you know? But anyway, whether it's a 27" or not is not even relevant. The video clearly shows an iMac running X Rebirth. And running it well. And this one in the video is no 27"
That is ridiculous, bordering on conspiracy theorist. So again, the reason Bernds video looks good is because he is either playing a module of the game used for testing without the engine bogging it down, or he is actually watching a prepared FRAPS style video from another computer. Period
Apple computers are not designed for gaming. But considering that, they do have great hardware, and play games very well.

So your basis for your post is that Bernd would choose a platform no one else is going to use and a computer not actually capable of long term stable play to showcase a portion of the video game... and I am the conspiracy theorist?DavidGW wrote:Only if your opinion of "play" is reserved to high graphics settings only. You don't showcase your game on an iMac and start the video by saying "Look it is just Mac guts it is running windows 7"
So at the very least, like I said he was playing a demo module designed to make it look good and strip out game background processes. People do that all the time when showcasing heavy software packages.
