It's not as if it's a saturated market. Technically they may count as competitors but it's not as if there's likely to be only one winner possible.
The problem is, while money may not be the issue, play time is.

While I can afford all 3 games (XR, SC and ED), my playing time is limited. Fortunately, XR will be released at least 9 months ahead of SC and ED (worst case scenario, Q1-2014 release), or at least I hope so.

The other good thing that favor X is that while both ED and SC are not MMO, they are structured like an MMO: Persistent Universe and a cash shop. Most X fans (except a loud minority - my take) are single player game fans.

You don't have to play it, only buy it. You only need to maximise cost-playtime efficiency if money is an issue.

Lots of folks just buy games because they like the look of them, don't play them obsessively, maybe come back to them later on. That's what I do certainly, and the lack of focus on long term replayability in most games nowadays suggests that's how a lot of people play them.

Absolutely true :)
I think it is the first hour fan only.

What people are looking for actually is a beautifull game with cooperative play or a strong PVP multiplayer mode. They want social network and they want to compare their empire with the others.

How many year have past since the first X release ? Gamers are not the same. Now they want immediate fun, beautifull game and multiplayer.
Lot of them will never try X if it didn't answer to those criteria.

When i was young i started playing video games with the Famicom 8bit.
And me and all my friends was able to buy something like 1 game a year... Gamers today tend to buy 10 times more games ! And play 10 times less hours on these same game...

That's why SC is better positionned than XR. This don't mean the game will be better. But it will talk to much gamers than XR.

Anyway it is just my feeling... We don't know a lot about XR... Because there is no marketing campaign yet. I hope that we will have answers at the next gamescom.

And i'm pretty sure the game will be awesome, and if there is bugs or anyhthing else at the release, egosoft, as usual, will improve their game by listening the comunity. That is the only thing i'm 100% certain :)

The other thing i'm sure of is to buy this game as soon as it is released !

Wait & see for august now :)
We have lot of things to do on X3AP 3.0 ^^

I wish you everybody a good expand :)

I don't really trust the marketing departments or review sites anymore.

And I kinda find it silly to exclaim that something will be awesome (or crap for that matter) when you don't really know what that something will be yet.

I do hope that both games turn out good, keep people on the pc as a gaming platform and help renew interest in spacesims and scifi though. :)

It's kinda sad that this topic keeps getting bumped back to talk about the next year's Gamescon/etc.

I reached the point where I check in every 3-4 weeks to see if release date is announced. If not, is there any new released info? If not, I just close the site again...

I've been saying it for a year and 1/2 now: No release date = better game. No new Info = Terrible PR department, and terrible representation of the company.

I think people attending Gamescom would be happy to know they might be interested in heading over to hall 05.2 at some point during the show. I don't know if it will be a good or bad experience, just saying people should visit.

Link to DeepSilver stand allocation

3 slots for Deepsilver, but for the moment we don't know if Ego will be there.

Given the large number of games that currently fall under DeepSilver, it is likely that there will be more than one game per stand.

Just to note the location of 5.2 Hall and what else is there.

Namely Sony Entertainment and a couple other very big name companies.

Well i am sure no one here would be concerned if Deepsilver where showing any other game than Rebirth, so of course your post is speculating on whether Deepsilver will be showing Rebirth, otherwise your post would be irrelevant, it would be like me coming on this forum and saying that blah blah company has 10 spots at the show..... so what ? lol

He stated that Deep Silver, publisher of Rebirth, has 3 slots. That is a fact, now we, we will speculate if Rebirth will be one of the games on show.

Personally and being in home turf, I bet Rebirth will be present.

But i'm a bit afraid too.

All trolling aside, I really do want to play this game, I do honestly think it CAN be better then star citizen, I am starting to think Chris Roberts has developed a tad bit of a god mentality, and so I do want this to be better, but god damnit egosoft and deepsilver, you're silence is breaking my heart.

It would be no bad thing to start a Star Citizen vs. X Rebirth press debate going at Gamescom particularly as X Rebirth will be a far more mature product.

Could be risky... Just remember that 50% of 1000 is still more than 90% of 500.

More mature and more quality. The Star Citizen seems a hoax.
