Invincible pirate bases and stations AP - Temp fix by clean reinstall & fresh start.

Post by offset543 »

Pirate bases and stations get down to 93% hull and stop taking damage. There is a pirate base in Farnham's Legend that is constantly surrounded by npcs attacking it. I took 3 boreas to attack a base in void of opportunity and same thing happens. Same thing with the forges around. I've destroyed a few with a destroy script to see if it would work and it did, but want to see if there is a way to fix this without getting a modified tag. Thank you.

Unless these are all Plot-related stations which sounds a bit doubtful, there is something wrong with your game installation. Do the verify at least.

I verified the game cache and all files were successfully verified. Did a test run and it seems it's all stations not just pirate stations.

OK there is or was definitely something wrong with your installation no matter what verify says. All your stations are acting as if Plot stations. Is the problem present in both TC and AP games?

The bad news is that it is possible that the problem is now embedded in your existing saves. You can check that by seeing if the issue exists after a fresh gamestart, or by using or borrowing a known good vanilla save and testing that.

Were you ever modified in either TC or AP and tried to remove the mods/scripts since? If a fresh start or known good vanilla save still shows problems then I think you should consider a clean reinstall using the advice (in every detail) at the end of this. You will then have to check if you need to do a fresh gamestart as well.

Thanks for the reply. I reinstalled since and it still shows up. I did experiment with a script and didn't like it so it probably messed up my save. I can destroy stations with in a new game.

Happened again after many more hours of play on the new game.

I did, although I didn't see anything egosoft related in my virtual store directory or any of its subfolders.

Could you please upload a vanilla gamesave that shows the issue to a fileshare site (ideally one that does not spam users with adware or require a registration to download files) and link it here and then we can have a look on another vanilla set-up and installation. Thanks.

Mediafire seems popular.

Yes, got it. Give me a while to try it out.

OK I have no idea what is going on but it is embedded in your save and is misbehaving on my vanilla X3AP installation and system. The Pirate Base is invulnerable at 93% hull. Also I went and attacked a nearby Paranid Soy Farm that was fully shielded but already damaged at 85% hull. As soon as its shields were reduced to zero, on the first damage after that its hull went up to 93% and then stayed there.

You just have to have some sort of station God-mode or debug script running in your save that is not permanently present in the vanilla game. Something in your installation, set-up or system is doing this to your saves but I have no idea what.

Your save was shown as unmodified but your game-progress up to that save from a very recent fresh start did seem a trifle imbalanced in some stats compared with others. I am not saying that you deliberately went out to cheat or exploit stuff, but your playstyle to get that far in that way so quickly must have been somewhat unusual and those unusual playstyle circumstances may have a bearing on your continually encountering this rare issue.

Thanks for trying. Pretty much just trained UT's as I got enough money, then built space weed/fuel/chip/electronic component complexes. Lots of SETA use.

OK, the save was useful to the Devs and the likely but obscure cause has been discovered. They are on the case and will hopefully try to get it sorted in the next update. Prevention of it happening again in future is relatively straightforward, but they are still discussing the best way to recover extant saves. It might be best to hold off restarting (if you intended to) until a fix has been announced as you know that you are rather prone to getting this issue.

If needed, I can provide you with savegames as well with this issue. I have the same issue with some piratebases/stations, but not all. http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=338908

In addition to that: If two plot related (I Think so) ships combat each other (in this case a Paranid zues and a Mammoth in the Highway Patrol mission from the Albion prelude plot), probably due to friendly fire), how can you make them stop? Cause they're both indestructible and especially the Zeus breaks down the sector.

Please post a link to any saves, ideally one for the stations and one for the capitals. It might help and cannot hurt to provide them. The Devs are aware.

All right, as promised, my savegames

indestructible capitals:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0lT7dG ... sp=sharing

indestructible Stations:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0lT7dG ... sp=sharing

For the indestructable capitals: Leave the current docked station and the indestructible Paranid Odysseus and mammoth are in the current sector

For the indestructible stations: see the already mentioned topic for verified locations: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=338908

In addition: It is quite possible that the pirate base already destroyed, was destroyed in AP 2.5.

Succes finding and fixing the issue ! If needing anything, glad to help you.
