X3AP 3.0 "Talk to <invalid>" *Corporation Troubles Mission Spoilers*

Post by DavidGW »

Hello all, first post.

This would probably be better in the Tech Support section, but I can't figure out how to get Steam to tell me my game key.

Probably best to stop reading if you haven't finished the Corporation Troubles plot line.

Anyways, as far as I can tell, I've finished the Corporation Troubles mission plot line, as I have my new Corporate Headquarters (Yay!), however I received an Incoming Message and subsequent mission that can't be completed.

The mission asks me to talk to <invalid> at Saturn Research Station (which is where the corporation owner was for me). Since the corporation was sold by the owner, this is the second rep gaining mission I've been called for (I'm assuming both shouldn't have happened), but the first worked fine. I also have an unlabelled corporation rank of 1 in my pilot status, where the main plot one was.

So I can't complete this random bugged mission, because the person I'm supposed to talk to has disappeared to spend their cash on some Space Fuel or something. I can't abort it either. And I'm not sure if my Corp HQ is supposed to do anything except look pretty, because it's not doing anything... except looking pretty.
So, yeah... Any help?
P.S. Steam version of X3AP, Terran Commander start.

Welcome. This is the FAQ you need to get registered and post in Tech Sp. On the X3AP 3.0 issue, the devs are aware of the question if not the repeatability or likelihood of the issue. You will need to give them some time to look into it.

When registered, PM (Egosoft Personal Message facility) an English Forum Moderator (examples myself, Nanook, Terre, etc) and to have this moved to Tech Sp please.

There should be no way for this to happen.

The same condition that triggers the end of the plot (where you get the station) also cancels the reputation mission chain.
If you could upload a save game,we can take a look to see what's happening.

Unfortunately, the "Register my Game" tool tip isn't in the right click menu when I follow said instructions.

Should it be there for both X3TC and X3AP? because I only have X3AP installed ATM.

Otherwise, I may have to just wait until the wonderous coding gods fix it.

AP needs TC to run.
So not sure what's happening there.

Oh and that reward for the plot...

Use it as an Equipment dock ,like you might with the Hub.

adding in R/D mods will make it very useful for adding EQ to your new ships.

It's easy to install X3AP without TC. You just click on X3AP in steam, and press "Install". :P

I guess it just installs some of the TC business, but not all of it. It says it's TC in my "steamapps/common/" directory though.

I might see about installing TC as well, depending on how much Steam decides it wants to download. Last time I played it, I ruined my save game by installing the Complex Cleaner, and getting the modified tag. Not doing that again. I like my Steam Achievements. Even if a 4xXLSPP self sustaining space fuel complex in Asteroid Belt completely destroys the framerate. :)

Steam installs everything needed for TC when installing AP, if you try to install Terran Conflict after completely installing Albion Prelude you will find that you don't have to download anything beyond what you already have.

Haha, I just tried installing X3TC, and it does indeed just appear without downloading anything new!

I came back here to post my discovery, and someone's beat me to it! :)

Thanks anyway. I now also have the "Register your Game" item in the right-click menu of X3TC. So Mr. Phipps can expect a PM from me very soon :)

Sorry about the inordinately long wait. I tried uploading it to Filefront, but it still hasn't been authorised.

So I put it here:

Hope you get it OK!

I can only confirm that the briefing in your save does indeed say 'Talk to <invalid>'.

Good. So someone has it.

Can you also confirm that in pilot status is a reputation entry (just below the main race reputations) that says something along the lines of "0 - 15%"?

Ref: Invalid Mission got the same invalid message in my mission log but I do also have the next mission." Warning contains possible spoiler".

Whilst collecting shares by doing various jobs you should have been offered a chance to go to an auction.

I believe it was time sensitive so that may have broken the plot line if you missed it. (hint if you go back to the point you missed it make sure you have plenty of credits.

If you did win the auction then you have the box in your freight bay, so look in your freight and see if you have a storage box there.

Click on that and you will recieve your next lead that will set up your next plot/mission.
When traveling pause occasionally, look back and enjoy the moment again.

Nope, not the issue.

I have finished all plotlines in X3AP 3.0

Random stuff still there.
