This is not limited to AP. I have also seen it in TC. And it also happens in Reunion, mainly in the bulletin board.

Argh steams behaviour with this seems screwed up:(
After the first verification if you verify again both TC and AP does it pass both without downloading any files?
Also do you remember how much did steam attempt to download at first? Technically it should be 815mb but as far as I can tell it's trying to download almost the whole thing including TC.

Just verified the cache again and it failed to verify and it is downloading 542mb worth of content for TC. I can't remember what the initial download size of AP was. I think it may have been 7GB according to Steam but I think it may have been wrong. On the second game cache verification it's downloading the same amount as it did the first time, 542mb

Edit: This time after verifying the cache it is downloading 772mb of content for AP as well as the 542mb of TC content. The first time I ran the verification it downloaded no content for AP.

Edit 2: Ran the verification a 3rd time. It failed to verify again and it is downloading 542mb of TC content. Nothing for AP is being downloaded this time.

After steam file verification for X3:TC I can hear music and voices again in TC and AP

It reported 262 files missing and it downloaded 543MB of data.

Does it fail the verification if you run it again?

Good to know it isn't limited to AP but too bad it's in the other games. This is the first time I witnessed the fps counter. In the many hours I've put in on TC I never once saw it.

No, verification ended successfully second time I run it.

That's good to know. I'm going to try a fresh install of both games and see if it still occurs after that.

No, verification ended successfully second time I run it.
Does it also verify correctly if you alternately verify TC and AP?
It's likely that AP overwrites the linux voice file for TC with the windows version.
I think I'll be able to fix it today in about 3-5h if that's the case.

When I validate files on AP then both AP and TC were checked and 263 files were missing again. Files are downloaded in order TC (543MB) -> AP (773MB).

Music and voice is not working in menu and game after that in TC and only voice is not working in AP (I hear music in main menu as I didn't start AP plot yet)

For me it didn't matter which game I chose to verify it still resulted in TC data being downloaded.

Argh bad news is there probably won't be a quick and easy fix (have to bother valve to fix this), but in the meantime you should verifying TC last.
So e.g. after the 3.0 AP update, only verify TC before playing either TC or AP.

That's no problem at all. I did have working sounds anyway after the verification so I will give what you just suggested a shot once I get the games reinstalled.

What's the best of getting the bonus pack on Linux? I'm playing TC right now (so far the only problem I have is that none of the shortcuts involving shift work when docked etc.) and I have the Windows download, but zip on linux won't unzip it.

By merely playing a linux version of Albion Prelude a bit, i've got an unloadable save - game is crashing (segfaults) on it every time i am trying. However, previous savegame is fine. Here is this troublesome save:

Here is stdout/stderr log since the moment i selected the save to load and it started loading:

BTW, how do you collapse spoiler/code?

I've installed this bonus pack with exe installer with wine and it works flawless.

No need to bother Wine if you also have the windows version. Just copy the script files which were installed by the Bonuspack from their folder ("scripts") into the according folder on Linux. Then do the same with the language file (folder "t"). After this, it worked for me just like the windows version. A Shrike with turbo boost is just more fun ...

You can't. With spoiler tags you can only hide normal text, so people don't read it while browsing threads. Obviously, it doesn't work with text in code tags. If you have big texts (or log files), I suggest you rather upload them to a freehoster or copy them to http://pastebin.com/ and post the link here.

[X3AP steam linux] game doesn't start

Post by arkantus »

X3TC run well.

X3AP doesn't start, i have controlled the cache(it's ok)

when i lunch (from terminal) X3AP_main

Code: Select all

$ ./X3AP_main
./X3AP_main: error while loading shared libraries: libsteam_api.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

and when i lunch (from terminal) test_X3AP_main

Code: Select all

$ ./test_X3AP_main
./test_X3AP_main: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

the problem is the game or steam ?

This one clearly looks like a missing SDL 2-version library (media-libs/libsdl:2 in gentoo).
