ETA on X3AP Linux port?
Just wondering if anyone has a rough idea when AP will be ported over.

Well there is a support thread that you can browse in Tech Sp that may give you some impressions of where they are with porting X3TC. Since that has to be complete and stable before they can really look seriously at the X3AP add-on ...

Posting TC bug reports in technical support session requires game registration with Egosoft. I own Steam copy of the TC, as it is the only way to get Linux betaezra-r wrote:I believe so you could help test it while you wait for AP to be ported.

If there would be another way to provide bug reports I would gladly submit them.
I also own a physical copy of the Reunion, which I played under wine for many many hours - Thank you Egosoft

The plan is to have all the X3 games support linux under Steamplay. If you have a Steam copy of them, then you will eventually be able to run the games under both Windows and Linux through Steam.Klo_Kla wrote:I also own a physical copy of the Reunion, which I played under wine for many many hours - Thank you Egosoftezra-r wrote:I believe so you could help test it while you wait for AP to be ported.I heard that once upon a time there was a Linux version of the Reunion as well. May be it was a rumor. I hope that one day it will become available gain. I would gladly re-buy

There is no need for personal info on this forum, all you need is a valid Game Code. There is no privacy issue.Klo_Kla wrote:Such registration would tie my forum account to my Steam account that has my financial and personal information. Just to reiterate what Ketraar said, there is no privacy issue. The only information you need to enter here is your registration code, which is not personal information. We do not have access to your Steam account or to any of the personal information in it.Klo_Kla wrote:Posting TC bug reports in technical support session requires game registration with Egosoft. I think, egosoft requires registration to limit technical support to the legit customers which is a proper thing to do. However, in my case it conflict with my desire to keep my personal information away from egosoft. Nothing personal - just precaution :0

Yep - I noticed the Linux (Penguin) icon beneath the 3.0 announcement on Steam. I have not installed it yet, but going to test it for sure.
One of the reasons I still use Windows (triple boot Windows, BSD, Linux) is that some of my favorite games (Fallout 3, T.E.S. Skyrim/Oblivion, X3 TC/AP) where only running under Windows. Great to see one of my favorites is now running under Linux...
Very happy Linux user here..

Well - tried AP and it is running great. There are some occasionally (but very noticeable) short frame-drops, especially when going trough the gates. But -as it is clearly stated in the launcher- AP 3.0 is in beta phase, thus this is still work in progress. Overall, however, all seems to work nicely.
Unfortunately it seems the bonus package (5.1.00) seems to be not available for the Linux version at this moment (unless I missed it) - so no CA, CLS or missile defense etc. That's a real bummer. I really hope this will added later on, because I really like that useful stuff.
I tried if the save files from the Windows version are compatible with the Linux version, and so far it seems to work without an problem. For those interested, you can find them under a hidden directory in the home directory: .config/EgoSoft/. Here are both TC an AP saves (X3AP/save and X3TC/save).
This is only a first impression, because I have been playing the game for just a few hours. So far I only tested X3:AP. I will take the X3:TC for a test later on.
