so ever since X3TC Abpre came out there has been no patching for tc itself ever since 3.2 came out which was nearly last year or so ago right? any chance that we're going to be seeing a patch of such caliber?

Nope, I think Ego is done patching TC, barring adding new languages or fixing new bugs (which I doubt will be found at this point; TC is pretty darn stable).

well, I did notice a few bugs that I was able to repeat, when I alt tab, and alt tab out, well, I tend to get a black screen sometimes and have to stop the game.

Do you have the game set up to run in the background? By Default, it's no set so.

Nothing major for TC,but some tweaks from AP were passed back to TC.
However,if you have AP,then there is a major patch with missions in the works.

That's not a bug in the game, but most likely something going on with your system. If it keeps doing it, you should post in the Tech Support forum for a solution.

As I said above. X Games are not set up by default to run in the background. I had this quite frequently until I changed it over.

He's not talking about running it in the background, but simply alt-tabbing out of the game. And X3TC is designed to alt-tab out and back without issues. I do it all the time with no problems whatsoever. If he's having issues with it, it's not the game's fault, as I stated earlier. It could be a video or sound driver issue, it could be a lack of memory, or even another programming running in the background that causes a problem. But it is not the game itself.

This exact issue started happening to me in the last couple of weeks on Windows 8 x64. It only happens intermittently; often Alt-Tab works fine.

I've also started having a problem with the computer sortof freezing when I leave Chrome (and nothing else) open overnight. (Not a hard freeze, can still move mouse, but actions taken are sluggish and eventually unresponsive)

I wonder if MS issued an update that destabilized something.

Also note that I do have X3:TC setup to run in the background.

Similar issues with AP too.
Only started this last week.

I thought it something to do with having an extra monitor or the installation of "DisplayFusion" from Steam.

EDIT

One of the new problems is that when I alt/tab out...when I alt tab back in again,I have lost my joystick control.
I then have to restart the game,if I want the joystick.

I can supply a new DxDiag if required.
Have upgraded to latest NVidia driver.(But symptoms started before that.

/Similar/ here; I'm not getting unusable issues, but the game is re-minimising itself occasionally after (say) 5-15s of Alt-tabbing back to (game) focus

I guess this is happening after the last month or so, so maybe a windows update did it - I can't see Adobe (Flash, PDF) interfering in this way, & that's the only other likely culprit as they've just changed their u/d schedule to coincide with MS..

W7 64-bit, but a relatively old gfx card (Radeon 4770HD) that needs frequent cleaning/cooling when it gets hard use; this m/c isn't in the most dust-free environment

This is beginning to sound like an issue for tech support so I'll move this thread over there.

One question, are all of you using a Steam version of the game? Is it possible a recent Steam update is causing this?

We need to be clear what the bug we are looking at is. Black screen on Alt/Tab back in, freeze on leaving a browser, or game minimising itself after Alt/Tab. These are probably not all the same fault or cause. The minimising issue has an active thread here where it was a temporary issue for the OP.

I have the Alt/Tab into a black screen issue with Skyrim (Steam) on ultra graphics settings but not with any X game. With Skyrim, I Alt/Tab back out and then back in again and the game picture comes back OK on the 2nd attempt.

This Skyrim black screen on Alt/Tab is fairly recent for me too and I think it may be either a Steam update, a Skyrim update or a graphics card driver update (I use AMD Catalyst 13.1 at the moment). I think we need more evidence from more users to pin this issue down to individual system set-up, game, graphics driver, or Steam as there are mixed messages here and the issues and symptoms are somewhat confused.

Alt Tab out of the game will periodically cause the game to go blackscreen, how ever everything is workable, which to me sounds like a graphical issue

FWIW i just reinstalled this on my new computer with win8 x64. I have a nvidia gtx 660 with 2gb and the machine has 16gb of system ram. so resources is not a problem.

I have been able to replicate the lockup though.

Fly somewhere in a ship and turn SETA with the system map open. Then try and bring up a menu on the left like personal.

It hits me every time.

As I said earlier in this thread, with complex Steam games I find that if I Alt/Tab back into the game after going somewhere else, the first time I may only get a black screen, but if from there I Alt/Tab into the same game a second time I get the normal game screen. This happens a lot for me with Skyrim on ultra settings although not with Steam X games. This behaviour only started for me after a Steam Client update a while back. I have since updated through several different AMD Catalyst drivers since last posting in here but with no effect on the issue.

sorry, i should have clarified my issue is random lockups, not the black alt/tab screen. both problems seemed to merge into this thread which is why i posted it here.
