You'll have to ask the script authors that one. I imagine you can just update them.

Thank you for the reply. :)
Fair point, but my worry was as to how it would affect my save games.

Is there any way to make the war progress for AP? For example taking argon sectors for the Terran? Or its just ships destroying ships forever?

Where can i get a repair laser from? (apart from the one on my suit) some ships can equip it so i assume it can be brought?

Thanks.

Don't think you can Tom, unless you script it in. The Menagerie shipyard occasionally drops one as it jumps, if you want to install that mod too. :)

Ah ok,

Ill have a look, might just stick with marine repairs as they work well at the moment.

Thanks.

The war already does progress. The Terran fleet will move to the next sector once all stations in the current sector being invaded gets destroyed. Although there is no actual sector ownership takeover. The Terran flagship's primary targets are the stations in the sector, not ships.

Go for marine repairs 2, instead. Marines will gain experience as they repair ships, so you can just drop a handful in each ship and forget about it :) REALLY useful for UT, with so many pirates using hull chipping guns.

The repair laser was never intended to be installed on ships - it would be way too powerful with multiple guns on a turret and a ship's laser generator. They are compatible because they are on the "special weapons" subtype with all the other unique weapons, like the tractor beam.

So the sectors always stay the same? No race can expand his territory?

Another question, is there any way to see exactly how many ships of one class can I dock to a ship?

The XRM war is far, far more dynamic than the vanilla AP war, but is not as full featured as specialist scripts that feature sector takeover.

For docking information look at the BSD thread (the mod where the XRM docking was taken from for the most vanilla ships). There is a link on the first page of this thread. The third or fourth post in that thread has a list of ships and their docking capability.

usually that shouldn't be a problem.
If you can just update a script, the rule of thumb is that you can also just update it when playing XRM, at least that's my experience.

Ok, I would like to ask a very simple question. Why is it that EVERY SINGLE TIME I AM EVEN CLOSE TO A PIRATE I GET DESTROYED BY A MISSILE FROM A MILITARY VESSEL? I mean holy crap they have AT LEAST a 2km explosion radius and completely vaporize my nova from 100% 100% every time I'm in a dogfight. It's some green missile thing, and it's really damned annoying.

One thing i have noticed, im not sure if its an XRM thing or has been changed in any version after 1.23, but in at least 6 capship battles where i have started losing hull (and never more than 3% lost) i have lost half or more installed software packages, usually a nice chunk of e-cells and missles and maybe a ranged weapon or two. What i dont understand is how only 3% hull loss on a Bragi (as we know a f***ing huge ship) can cause so much devastation on the packages in that ship. Does the plasma beam cannon have the same effects as the ion cannon? sure seems that way. 5 of the 6 encounters were against Argon capship fleets, the other one was a Boron fleet loaded with IC's. Very similar component loss rates were experienced (although in the Boron fleet engagement i also lost a 2GJ shield at 99% hull....)

EDIT: I am using Medium hull pack - perhaps the game has a threshold set by a specific number of hull lost, not percent, and that was based on vanilla hull values... i dunno. If that is the case i wonder if said thresholds can be proportionally adjusted.

Absolutely correct and its hard coded - nothing I can do about it I'm afraid.

Another consequence of using a game engine that was never designed to do what we are trying to get it to do.

The largest blast radii are on the missile boat torpedos and the firestorm. I've already significantly reduced them - but I will look at it again as I am also looking at other stats in TMissiles for 1.29.

Thanks man, I already went and got the X3 editor and toned them down on everything but the XL and XXL missiles. I believe it was either Tornado, Windstalker or Aurora missiles that I kept getting hit with.

As a side note, what are PACs for? They seem to just generally be a bad weapon, is there some special effect to them that I'm missing?

Firstly let me thank you for such an awesome mod, the changes to gameplay have improved the AP experience greatly.

I have a couple of things I want to clarify.

First: Is it normal for ships to bail with 0 cargo on board?
This has happened to me every time I bail an enemy ship.

Second: Do ships ever drop weapons?
So far all I have seen is missiles by the thousand and the odd bit of cargo.

I am sorry if these questions have been answered before I tried to search for answers but didn't turn up anything specific to this.

Boredom,

one quick question, I also have the marine repairs installed and have 4 marines on my Vidar, but I can get them to do repairs to my ship or any other of my ships.

Is there something I am missing?

Thanks.
