[XTC] Default Profiles Location?

Post by spoidz »

Hello all,

I borked my default profiles in between trying to get my new XTC install going.

I have the Gold edition disks with XTC 2.5.

The only profiles I can find are on the X3R disk one, labeled Alternative, Classic, and Default.

Are those the same for both games or do I have to install Vanilla XTC again in order to get the XTC defaults to extract into My Documents/Egosoft/XTC folder?

Thanks

I think the profile you want should be in (Your) Documents/Egosoft/X3TC/profiles. To install and use it you have to start the game and go to Options, Controls, Profiles and select your custom or named profile.

If your preferred profile no longer exists then you will have to select the default profile and change controls and options within it to what you want before saving it and maybe naming as your new custom profile. If no default profile exists (although I can't imagine how) then you will need to create one from scratch using the controls options, look for one on the installation DVD, or maybe copy one over from a friend with the game.

X3AP and X3TC use similar profiles but I suspect that X3R has a different UI and so will be too different.

Thanks,

Yes all the profiles were nuked going back and forth between installs.
look for one on the installation DVD
That was the question I had, there is only one profile folder on the GOLD Edition disks and that is on the Disc One for X3R.

I guess I'll have to install XTC vanilla again and check to see what it extracts into the profiles folder.

No I don't think that may be necessary. Just start the game then in-game go into controls and change something before doing an exit and save. That should set up a mostly-default custom profile (I think).
