Steam won't accept my code!

I used the code from my X-Superbox to register here. So apparently I didn't make any mistakes in reading the code.

But Steam won't accept it!

I also bought the DVD version of Albion Prelude (because my crappy Internet connection won't allow me to download so much data). But I can't even install it, because I need to register Terran Conflict with Steam first.

Why is Steam such an asshole and won't accept my code from the X-Superbox?

Did you type it in with faint possibility of a new reading/typing error, or did you cut and paste it from your forum profile (Display Registration Code(s)) which should be foolproof?

If triple checked, what are the first two items (only) of your registration code as Steam did have some problems with some starts of registrations in the past.

just tried it with copy and paste from my forum profile - invalid code

My code starts with a CW.
