those looking for factory option - they are totally scriptable. I have been playing in-game with the scripts I wrote (detailed in that huge econ thread) and I love em. Not unbalancing at all, SPPs are still dollar for dollar a 'faster' investment, but now big-money investors can buy a 2.5 million credit quantum tube fab that churns out a million credits by the time your SPP turns out 250K. I think thats a fair price for the luxury of checking up on just one quantum tube fab rather than 4 SPPs and all their stupid transports getting themselves killed. Plus the diversity makes economy much more fun and plus lets you stack fabs into a single sector and still be very profitable.

just wanted to say that before everyone got on a whole ;the economy is hopeless' rant, since it is totally untrue. if youdont belive me, copy the script I posted in the 'tips from experiences scripters' thread and give it a shot yourself.

i dont know why i didnt think of this before. its a bit dodgy but, say you went to mine an asteriod and filled say, a dolphin? well if you sold said dolphin at a shipyard, you would get paid for the silicon and as most facs only take 280 odd wafers, this could be a good way to make a load of cash! not sure if im low enough to try it though.

i know if you buy a new ship you can only sell it back at the same shipyard for about 50% of the price. but imo i wouldn't try this even if it turns out to be true. i mean wheres the fun in exploiting a bug in a single player game? <not flaming btw

You only get 50% of the price for any goods in the cargo bay when you sell a ship, so you only really want to do this with stuff you simply can't sell easily like spacefly eggs and Nividium. You should be able to get rid of a full Dolphin load of silicon (which is only about 600 wafers, as I recall) by trading through a few sectors--not only will you get paid more for your silicon, but you also might luck out and get one of those "Please fetch us X units of silicon in the next few stazuras" missions for extra cash!

The only time you could make a profit in the x-series of games by bying and selling ships was in X-tension(pre 1.4)

This was done by buying a TS in argon prime,moving ship to Trading station and adding cargo hold upgrades,then taking ship back to shipyard to resell. it work with other races as well but argon gave best profits....also it only worked with the TS ships

I brought a dolphin yesterday in a old game i had saved off and tried it. The cost in kingdoms end was 160.000 credits, the sale price in argon prime as 88,000 credits at the shipyard. I did not try selling it at the argon wharf.

So it looks like this is an early april fools joke.

BTW i did this in a unmodified game.

If this was actually true, it would be a major loophole, and if you're willing to exploit major loopholes just to increase your balance, why not just script yourself some credits?

It seems to me that the only people being suckered into this are being hoist by the petard of their own greed!
