Note: This player hasn't invoked any of the trigger points yet but it will happen soon.

The return journey added Split Fire to the ships universe map. Pirate ships form a regular part of the flow of traffic in that sector. Most of the ships flowing into and from the south gate.

With a brief detour in my journey to see what lay beyond I have added also added the boarder sector into Paranid space. The personal identifier log shows that they consider me an enemy. What this means I'm not certain but I didn't hang around to find out if this would invoke a hostile reception.

Scanning through the bulletin board just provides me with an insight to lots of credits I could be earning if only I had a more significant standing or a bigger ship.

Now for the bonus, a guy is willing to pay for a fast transport to make a delivery of luxury foodstuffs to a party. Okay the initial sum isn't great just 829 Cr but the bonus for fast delivery is 9850 Cr.

It's going to take a while to install the engine tuning enhancements but with every spare credit invested this Disco is going to be quick. A quick glance at the new stats and with 368 mps as current max speed, I can almost smell the bonus is as good as mine.

Back to the bulletin board and yes the job is still open.

764-07-01:13:14
------------

Although seemingly less than impressed with my ship the guy agrees all I have to do is reach the Crystal Fab in Red Light in less than 24 Mizuras.

764-07-01:13:19
------------

Only five Mizuras in and rocketing across Home of Light (having now recieved a prompt to land at the TerraCorp station) the guy that gave me this job has the cheek to com me and ask me why I haven't reached my destination. I'm getting a bad feeling about this job now.

764-07-01:13:28
------------

Red Light and the end is in sight, just a couple more Mizuras and it'll all be over.

With just 2 kms from the station I get a second call asking if that foodstuff is slowing me down. Sorely tempted to tell him to have his people "look out the f'in window' but consider this might not be such a good move.

764-07-01:13:32
------------

It is with a sense of bitter disgust that for my efforts and expenditure I walk away with the basic 829 Cr payment. Sorely tempted to nip down the kitchens and piss in the soup.

As you can see from the date stamp it's been a while since recording any exciting new events in the log. That's because I've been running guns into pirate stations for a planned all out assault on a Split Trading Station..... Well that's what I'd like to have been doing. However it's really been a case of finding those odd little transport missions and the occasional lost container lurking in dark corners of the stations.

And now here I am sitting back and enjoying a healthy drop of whisky on the Equipment Dock in Antigone Memorial whilst I get two Gamma IRE's fitted plus an extra shield. Not that I have serious plans to get into combat but if there's an opportunity to get closer to combat situations for the occasional salvage then that's where you'll find me. Not that I anticipate getting involved of course but the guns will be usefull in case any of those Mandalay boys decide to take an unhealthy interest.

Universe map has expanded to show from top left Kingdom End, south from there to Three Worlds, and then heading east through Power Circle and Antigone Memorial and finally South to The Hole neatly mapping out all the remaining core Argon sectors.

Now how to describe the unbelievable good fortune I've just had. Where am I? In Ore Belt and currently shepherding my newly "acquired" Bayamon to the wharf in Cloudbase South East.

Now just so I can relive the moment a from when I first entered the sector from Home of Light and reviewed the sector map. There but a few km's away was a lone Bayamon, with perhaps a rookie pilot making a name for himself who knows, attacking a Mercury freighter.

Plasma rained in on the transport, it's shields shimmering in the haze. Return fire streamed back as the tail gunner desperately tried to lock on target. The Bayamon shields dropping as it banked away to recharge the weapon banks for another pass.

Risking life and limb I chose in a moment of madness, to assist. Being able to match the speed and agility of the Bayamon gave me the opportunity to tuck in behind. Constantly aware that in the face of Beta PAC's my humble ship would be vapour ware in a few short Sezuras.

The Bayamon twisted and turned as it bore down on the transport. Plasma flashing in both directions and me sheltered behind the shimmering glow of the Bayamons shields as it absorbs the fire from the transports gunner. The adrenaline hit new highs as I pulled the trigger and both Gamma IRE's opened up for the first time.

The Bayamon peeled away whilst broadcasting a close range message, "I'm going to get you now!" A sense of momentary panic as I assumed he meant me but once again he made the run in on the transport.

Tacking in from the side, more plasma beltched from my weapons in a continuously extragevent light show. Some to shimmer in the shields of the pirate ship. The Mercury gunner flashed a smile and a quick thumbs up as I rocketed past. The Bayamon shields continued to fall in the blaze of our combined fire.

Once again I managed to tuck in behind on another of his runs against the transport. This time his shields hit the deck and sections of the hull showered sparkes as the plasma from the IREs tore into the unprotected surface.

The Bayamon twisted away and began to get distance to allow the shields to recover. A sense of exhiliaration kept me on his heels but on my own it was difficult to maintain a target lock long enough to keep the shields down.

Strangely enough the pilot turned back towards the freighter, perhaps slightly disorientated from the combat, once again the shields of his ship dropped to nothing and the hull took damage from our combined weapons fire. Then all of a sudden the pilot bailed out.

I guess he felt he didn't stand a chance and hoped that in his act of submission we would let him go. For my part I would have done but the transport gunner obviously didn't feel the same compassion.

A moment later after recalling some of the techniques from my less "honest" days the abandoned ship was quickly under my control. The transport pilot sent a message of thanks and went on his way.

Quick check of the Bayamon stats and to my pleasent surprise all the weapons were intact but the shields had completely failed so it was no wonder the pilot jumped out.

Looking at my universal status it's interesting to note that it was unchanged despite this good deed. After the combat the Bayamon was docked at the nearest station and anything of value relocated to my ship. This was predominantly the Beta PAC's. Although they can't be used at least if the Bayamon doesn't make it to the wharf I'll still get the credits for the weapons.

After the slow trip of the Bayamon to the Wharf the station master ran his expert eye over the state of the ship and credited me with 65,000 Cr. Add in the 130,000 Cr for the Beta PAC's and suddenly life as a wanna-be trader has taken a dramatic turn for the best. However to make the most of a trading ship it has to shift goods in bulk.

Looking at the shipyard manifest a minimum spec. Mercury retails at just under 100,000 Cr but the cargo capacity starts at 500 Units. The Express however costs the same but has a fixed capacity of 750 Units and much higher top speed yet can't carry the XL goods.

Just for the moment I'm tempted by the Express for it's dual purpose capability. However someone did mention checking out the Boron ships first. Apparently the Dolphin although not fast is a bulk carrier starting with a haulage capacity of 1500 units.

3 times the capacity of the Mercury means 3 times the profit and suddenly I sstart developing a lisssp.. Perhapsss there'ss ssome Teladi blood in me after all...

Kingdom End Trading Station. Here I sit in the comfortable surroundings of my brand new Manta. Only 1MW of shielding but speed optimised to maximum with many bolt on extras. It's time to trade.

764-07-01:20:12
--------------

It's been a couple of hours since the last entry into the log and since the purchase of the Manta credits have been rolling in. My universal trading status has also benefited dramatically. In a remarkably short time with the benfit of several Silicon trades in Antigone Memorial and Herrons Nebula to needy Crystal Fabs and Computer plants the growing fleet now has a second Manta.

Only thing is it's hard work remote managing the ships. The 500,000 Cr per ship for an automated system is still some way off. So whilst I'm issuing remote commands and have credits steadily accumulating it's given me the opportunity to max out the Disco and go on a short voyage of discovery to increase the computers Universe map.

From Kingdom End to Atrius Clouds all the Boron core sectors have been logged. Ceo's Buckzoid, Teladi Gain and the unwelcoming Split sector Family Whi also appear. With trades for Best Buys and Best Sell enhancements acquired.

Offered to give a Teladi a lift to a station in some place called Blue Profit however he didn't respond too well. Something tells me I need to improve race relations before they'll take me seriously.

Very nice description again. Considering the 65.000cr you got for that rod, it must have been in decent conditions. But with no credits to patch it up it is not really any good to keep.
Yes, the Silicon runs are just amazingly profitable, ey? :D

Nice addition to the log, seems things are starting to take off now.

This made me chuckle... "3 times the capacity of the Mercury means 3 times the profit and suddenly I sstart developing a lisssp.. Perhapsss there'ss ssome Teladi blood in me after all..."

But after reading what came previously, also made me wonder why all Taladi's dont fly Boron Dolphins :!:

Yup,Egosoft definetly had a bad hairday when they decided Boron Traders could hold a larger cargo than their Teladi contemporaries.

On the other hand, the fact that Boron are an underwaterspecies and have to take along a rather large aquatic environment in order to survive might explain the larger capacity aswell. Of course the line of reasoning between a larger livinging environment and a larger cargobay for tradable goods escapes me a bit aswell...

This has been about the busiest day I can ever recall. If I'd known that making money was so easy I'd have started years ago and who knows by now I'd be Galactic Emporer of the biggest corporation in existance.

Some sales bloke mentioned on the last trip, "If you're motivated you can do anything, and if you get a lucky break you can be unstoppable."

I guess I'm just riding the crest of a wave and all off the back of the Bayamon capture. Maybe tomorrow when I wake up this would have all been a dream. But before I stop for a well deserved rest, I promised myself that at least I would show the old fella that I've not just done a runner with the ship. The fact that the Disco is fully kitted out and upgraded should stand as testimony that I'm doing well.

Also avoided turning up in a different ship just so they don't think I've started stealing again.

So here I am at TerraCorp HQ and a nice looking pad with a few interesting and expensive ships in the docking bay that would be interesting acquisitions.

However time to talk to some bird, Elena Kho. Some dragon of a manageress type no doubt. Still I'll listen and if I don't like the job I'll tell her to politely stuff it somewhere. Not that I need the credits as both Mantas are still raking in the credits.

764-07-01:22:46
--------------

Well that meeting wasn't what I expected. Short trip to the Crystal Fab with some computer parts.

As for Elena Kho, well she may have a few years on her but she still a good looking woman. I wonder if she has a daughter?

Anyway "yes" I took the delivery job but it was the smile and friendly manner that sold it to me. Didn't get any answers why they're keen for me to work for them and she was very non-commital about working hours to the point where I get the impression that I can just turn up as and when the muse takes me and they'll give me a courier job or something.

Anyway drop this lot off, head for the bar and a well deserved sleep.

The plot has started...DAH DAH! :-)

Keep it going. Who knows, after a while maybe it should all be put together as an example of how to get started in a new game!

Hi Merc,

I like it. it half makes me want to start playing again. but I think I'll weight for the buggyness to be sorted first before I go down that road again
some who deserve life receive death. Others who deserve death receive life. Can you give it to them? Don't be eager to deal out death in judgement, for not even the wise can see all ends.
