Please think about unicode support for Asian Languages, It's easier for localization.

I think the support is already there at least in the data-files,
it's probably more a case of resources for the translation process ?
Once upon a time I briefly tangled with a user-created Chinese version of X3 previously, can't remember their username atm
(this is also showing the 'in-game model-viewer' windows, a util that came & went a while back):

Yes, I was a part of this Chinese project, due to the UI doen't support unicode, so it doesn't display double-byte language correctly. We have to hack the game files and add translation as a mod... Quite nasty.exogenesis wrote:I think the support is already there at least in the data-files,

The way we translation:
we replace the original English font (tga) with a Chinese font, and the a .abc file to coordinate the right Chinese character to display.
You can download the full translation of X3AP here: (unrar and replace the original files. Remember to backup)

The most complicated part for us is to create those Chinese font and .abc files. As you know, Chinese language have thousands of unique character...
