(BUG) AP :captured KIOTO

saw that thing flying without any Firewall, sentry lasers, and hull polarization, so i had to capture it. once done, i sent the ship out of the sector asteroid belt.

as soon as i left the sector i got the voice message saying that they have lost contact with everything in the sector, to my surprise the kioto i just captured, jumped back in (without energy) using the command invade sector, (i never issued any command)

went to an early save, got some energy cells, and once the kioto jumped to Asteroid Belt, i issue the command to jump and dock to the shipyard in light of heart, a few minutes after the ship was gone. with a note in the journal " your ship your kioto has been destroyed in light of heart" (it was docked in the shipyard) and i was OOS.

reloaded back, get in the ship and hit seta in the sector.. a few minutes later the screen went black, and took me to the game main stream. (god took the ship out with me on board ) lol.

it is clear that there is a script running there. and capturing any ship with that script running will make the above true for any player. the capture script should always remove any scripts running on any given captured object.

and yes, tried issuing orders to the ship , to the turrets , back to no orders and everything i can think off . any ideas?

also , has anyone seen the valhalla ? and is it safe to capture? i have not seen the first flying in my universe.

also , Kioto is missing its hangar . ROLF.

ok happened again with a odin,

ADVICE : DO NOT CAPTURE CAPITAL ships in WARZONE.

it seems everytime GOD decides for a push in any of this sectors, it kills every major ship including the ones you captured.

well the issue with them following their scripts was always in game atleast

Or else sell them ASAP? Sounds like the same sort of thing that happens with assasination mission ships -- when their time is up, they go poof, period.

Same happened to Scimitar (M3) I captured from war zone.

if you are lucky, i was able to sell the Kioto, the other did poof , and no time to either dock it. but still capturing in the war zone is rewarding!, i capture stuff for fun, not for creditsssss, i can actually make more out of the stock market! and looks to me that the ships patrolling are not as interesting as the ones we know from TC.

the only ships that you can capture are the ones patrolling, i guess i am going to put the game down for a bit, and wait for patches, don't get me wrong i don't regret the 10USD , for 2 main reasons, 1 support to the good people of egosoft, and 2, it is still a fun game :), but it requires a lot of polishing on the script arena.

seems to me that piracy in the game is still one weakness, i love to pirate and board stuff, they made it challenging for sure, but working an hour to get a ship, then poof...killing the hard worked reward is not welcome for my play style. well you get the idea :)

but hey. i love how original egosoft is, and its community is AWESOME.

This issue has been in the game for ages.

For example, boarded 'bounty hunter' ships for bankrupt assassin start would always try to kill you whenever you ejected or changed ships

And the similar behavior was observed when you capture some capital ship it would then jump to another sector out on its own accord.
And the RRF-created ships suffered from issue desribed in the OP as well

I believe it is quite possible to fix this with a mod, however it seems they are still trying to patch something (last week steam updates TC almost every day), so rushing mods could be unwise, and i suggest putting the game on the shelf for a couple of weeks

I you really enjoy capping/general piracy, take a little stroll through the Xenon sectors that start North of Grand Exchange.

You'll end up in back in the Terran space in the sectors around Aldrin. Aldrin to Neptune is a wonderfully active space lane and the ships there aren't running any of the war scripts.

thats where i got the tyr :)

no luck with the odin, still hull polarization device and sentry lasers.

i dont know if the ship (woden) north of asteroid belt are controlled by the war scripts? it never move from there...

also what about valhalla ? never seen one flying around.

i only hope devs are reading this, and make a fix to it.

I have seen Valhalla spawn on two different occasions, on both times near the N gate in Heretics End.

On first time I guess some script had broke since there were something like 4-6 argon capitals and around 6 ATF capitals within spitting distance of eachother but neither side fired a shot or even moved around like usual. I couldn't believe my luck when the scan showed that the Valhalla had no hull polarization nor internal defenses and I just had finished training 20 marines with 39-90 fighting skill to 100/100/100 in the other skills. So I call up my M7M, turn ATF hostile and start the usual boarding operation by launching enough hammers to bring down its 12.2 GJ of shielding followed by flails and boarding bods and flails again. All marines make hull contact on first try and manage to hack the ship under my control without taking any casualties relatively fast. I tell my hyperion to jump to the N gate and quickly give the Valhalla JD + energy cells to jump away.

Up until this point everything was going as it should but every time I told the Valhalla to jump to any other sector it was immediately destroyed except when I told it to jump to Scale Plate Green where it survived around 30 seconds and then just vanished with nothing in sight. So I load a save a bit back and now personally take control of the ship and tell it to jump to Argon Prime only to get a loading screen before being booted to main menu just as if I had died. Tried this a couple more times with the same result before giving up and loading a previous save where I hadn't started boarding yet.

Later I saw another Valhalla in Heretics End but this time it and the rest of the ATF fleet present were fighting with the Argon fleet. I did the usual boarding again but lost some marines when they were fighting inside the ship but nothing major since I still managed to capture the ship. This time the ships friend/foe menu kept changing Argon to foe every couple of second so I told the ship to jump to PTNI HQ to minimize any potential problems. To my surprise the Valhalla didn't get destroyed this time and I managed to set its friend/foe settings back to default settings and told it to jump to Argon Prime for repairs/refitting. Still everything seemed just fine so I changed back to my Hyperion and jumped to another sector so the Valhalla could dock without problems and activated SETA to speed things up. Around 2-3 minutes later the Valhalla gets destroyed again for no reason while it was flying towards the shipyard at blistering 14m/s top speed. I reloaded but the ship vanished again so I tried to personally fly the ship to the shipyard just to get booted in to the main menu halfway after a couple of minutes of flying the thing.

If the war sectors are the only places where Valhallas spawn and they all have this disappearing bug getting one under your control will be really interesting. Maybe after PHQ is added you might have just enough time to get your ship there to be reverse engineered and hope that you can build your own that doesnt have any war sector bugs.

Obviously the ship disappearance is not intended

The cause of the issue is that one the 'war' scripts keeps running on the ship
A proper fix to that is to add an instruction to the boarding script that cancels all currently running tasks on the boarded ship.

looks to me , that any Military ship and its escorts are safe to board/liberate

any ATF, Terran ship without the military tag and it is flying at the war sectors are more likely to poof.

i think fighters, the ones that are docked in those non military ships can be captured, the lone fighters part of the invading/defending group, will be taken away , once the war "resets", or go to next stage.

the only new ship not listed for sale is the valhalla, the rest you can buy it. given you have the reputation for it.

i have yet to find if the Race response ships are capturable or not, i believe they are, they seems to not poof only jumps away.

I recently had a Tepukei I'd captured in a war sector vanish on me (I flew it myself for a while without any problems, but it vanished when I gave it a command to do something else).

I thought v.1.1 had fixed this?

You sure you got patched to 1.1 ? :) I captured Kyoto after 1.1 and now use it as a homebase for a bunch of bombers and support ships. It is also awesome when you need to bring that super-freighter across the universe :)

Considering he posted this in December, and the patch came out in mid-January, I'd guess he didn't. :P

And to avoid further confusion over an old, pre-patch thread, I'll lock this one. If anyone is still experiencing this issue after the patch, either start a new thread here, or better yet, post in the Tech Support forum.
