ASEWS script.

Hi I can't post or search in the scripts forum so just putting this one in here in the hope someone can answer for me.

Please can someone tell me what this script is, as I've seen it mentionned a few times in relation to knowing where Khaak spawns are ocurring. Also can you tell me where I can download the script and how I install it. I have upgraded to 1.3 if that makes any difference with the script working.

I believe it tells you if Khaak have entered an area that you have an Advanced Sat running the script. Look on www.xscripting.com you will probably find it there !!!

It uses your network of advanced sats to warn you as soon as Khaak are spotted, instead of waiting until they attack something you own. It may be helpful at some point, but for me right now it's just annoying.

Unfortunately, I think it's all but impossible to remove this script. The instructions for removing scripts posted at xsripting.com don't work with this one. I set the frequency to "1" so it doesn't send messages continuously, but that still means I get 25 incoming messages every time I load a saved game. I'm not going to try to respond to every one; I have businesses to manage. :)

Thanx.. By the sound of it, I better not bother.. Would be useful to know if a sector where some expensive stuff is has just had a Khaak spawn, so I coul dat least jump in and save some of it.. Unfortunately I'm at the stage where I'm trying to expand a trade empirte and have no Khaak killers yet.. A Dolphin S with 1 MW shield lasts about as long as it takes to tell me it's being attacked..

I use the SEWDatalink script rather than ASEWS.

It persistently stores the Sector state so you get one message when khaak spawn and another when the sector has been cleared. No slew of messages when loading a saved game. Standard nav sats are supported too (I think with reduced scan radius).

It also comes with start/stop and uninstall scripts that worked without a hitch for me. (removed before patching to 1.3)

The only annoying thing is I dropped of Nav sats everywhere while exploring the galaxy so I log incursions all over split space even though I have no interests in the whole of their space. Still, I can just leave it and get no new messages until home forces clear the sector or the khaak kill my sat.

Very useful script when you only have limited sector defence. Defence forces can be jumped around where needed :)
