Killerog's mod downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Ok I will look in to it and try and find a copy of XP for me to test on.

Edit :: The problem is the file location I have made the program dose not exist for XP. So I have made the program use a different one for XP from Vista/Win7. I have also given people the ability to chose there own location but you would have to do this every time you start the program.

If the default locations work then use them for ease of use, changing directories is only for those with problems using the default locations.

I am going to test the new version on XP and if it works I will upload it.

You could store the location in a configuration XML file that you load on startup and save when it changes?

I could do, but I am still unable to get the program to work on XP and the crappy error box with no useful information is not being much help.

Probably a stupid question but, are you sure that you have all the pre-requisits installed and that all required DLLs are discoverable by the executable?

That's what I am checking now, I have the installer set to download and install the needed pre-requisits.

Getting the same issue on Vista (64-bit), looks to me like an untrapped exception while trying to find a data file rather than a missing DLL/Library. Probably worth ensuring that all fille handling is covered by try...catch statements.

New version out.

I have re written the download section of the code as for some reason that did not work on XP, so the program crashed when ever it tried to read the files that had not been downloaded. This has been tested on win7 x64 and XP and works on both. Please let me know if this fixes the errors you have been getting.

in your documents folder there should be a KillerogDownloader folder is there anything inside it ?

Good to hear. Let me know if you find anything else wrong, would like to start using this as my main way to provide mods once it has been tested enough.

New version is in the works that supports AP and allows adding of extra games far easier. I will be using this for all my AP mods, so am looking for anyone who wants to beta test this tool for me. I wont be releasing any mods for AP until this tool works. So the quicker I get this working the quicker I can start putting mods out.

Bit more info on this tool now is nearly ready for release.

New GUI looks like this :

New features of the tool are:

--Able to work with both TC and AP
--Able to start the game bypassing the about screen by default and the intro videos/game menus if the user choses so.
--Enables you to select a mod that is installed, not non installed mods again with out the need of the about screen
--Saves your last game and mod combination so you don't have to select it multiple times
--Provides a work around for the AP mod select screen not working correctly
--New way of deleting files
--Backs up loadscreen folder if the mod you are installing overwrites them, restores the images when the mod is removed.
--Easy support for adding new games when they are released (looking at you X-R)

New version out, use the auto updater or download it from my site if you use any of my mods.

There is an AP trail pack mod that is selectable, it dose work but I have yet to release it as such (using it for testing the AP side of the tool).

New version coming out soon to coincide with the new release of my BSG mod.

Lots of behind the scene changes that fix a few bugs that caused the program to crash including a big bug that happened if AP and TC were not installed and ran at least once.

Plus a highly requested feature of two new buttons, one to just download the mod and one to install the mod once it has been downloaded separately. Allowing those of you who do not have Internet access on your gaming PC to be able to use this tool much more easily.

Ill update this post once I have released it. Auto updater should update the tool next time you run it once the update is up on my server.

Hey there Killerog,

I've been trying to use your Battlestar mod for days now but I cannot download it since your downloader does not work on my pc.

I'm running a win7 x64 os and your downloader installed correctly as far as the installer is concerned. Updater also seems to work but the main downloader does not start.

What happens is after I start the program, windows wait pointer appears for about a second and then nothing happens. No running app or process can be found in the task manager either.

I run it in administrator mode. I also tried running almost all of the compatibility mods but to no avail.

Is there something I'm missing?

If not is there a regular download location without the need for the installer?
