the last one makes me think about how nice it would be if "landing" as a complex simulated procedure would be part of getting in- or onto stations (or capital ships - for example the hangar of the ship in the 8th screenshot)
not just taking a target and hit a key to auto-dock... or flying with full speed into the docking area...

This is my current background http://www.after-domination.net/ADGloba ... _BG_13.jpg
As I am very curious about this structure. Is it a space city? A massive modulated complex? A military base? Can I get out of my ship and grab a beer?
Yeah I am looking forward to information on this structure.

this reminds me of the other x games where you would wind your way into a complex looking for a free bay

It would be very cool to be able to hop off the ship and grab a beer/space fuel...perhaps some quality time with an Asari dancer? Surely Egosoft can ask for ME designers to send a few young Asaris to earn a dollar in the X Universe...Incubi wrote:This is my current background http://www.after-domination.net/ADGloba ... _BG_13.jpg

Egosoft would have to be insane to not make Rebirth use multi core systems. since this game uses so much processing power. its understanderble why X3 never used it becuase it was still using the engine way back to X-BTF, but now they made brand new engine for Rebirth, i would say most definetly have multi core support. maybe evan DX10/11 it looks like it has that feature so far.

I hope they get rid of SETA as an item that you buy. If they want to have a key to accelerate time, then just have a key that accelerates time. There's no need to have an "in-universe" explanation for why time is passing faster (to you, the player), for the same reason there's no need to have a pee bottle item to buy in order to explain why your character never seems to need to use the bathroom.StarSword wrote:I hope they don't remove it, at least not unless they replace it with something like an FTL drive. SETA is intended for use in decreasing travel time. Using it for other purposes like reducing one's trade/combat ranks, or to speed up the earning of money by one's AI fleet, is perhaps the most common exploit in the game (in the latter case, one I've used myself during complex-building).Ahem wrote:I really hope that seta has been done away with (which is doubtful i admit).
In other words, don't introduce a magical piece of time warping technology in order explain a game mechanic that exists to make the game fun.

Problem with that is that it will take at least the same distance to deccelerate. And even now when docking a freighter I 'overshoot' sometimes since decceleration is too slow....Ahem wrote: Well, i did mean for them to increase travel speeds. Maybe include some real physics, so travel speed is only limited by the distance you have to accelerate... with big sectors, you could potentially get up to huge speeds, meaning travel time across a sector would get exponentially lower the bigger the sector is (as theres more room to accelerate)
Another thing is, when there will be 3 modes of travel (normal speed, FTL, jumpgates) it'll become quite hard to choose a freighter to attack: they will move too fast, all using FTL.
I hope that when egosoft does the presentation there are some good questions from the crowd and the answers will be posted somewhere here...

This is right at the top of my wishlist. Simply awesome.
I was thinking of this cool idea for a race. Maybe there could be a civilization which traverses the galaxy looking for supernovas to "mine". The newer the nova- the more there is to be gained and ships are brought to mine the resources (higher elements and so on created at a stars death).
So a whole heap of them turn up in the X universe and discover there are people there. Yeah just a quick idea for a new race since I hope egosoft will squeeze some new ones in.

Light =/= Sound, bro.STL_fpagsc wrote:Don't like the graphics. There's NO atmosphere in space and so the light can NOT be visible in space/vacuum, only on objects...
And it is too similar to Eve Online, that's also not good. (: very similar gates, ships, stations, graphics, etc...)
You're confusing either Light and Sound or space/vacuum and black holes.

I understand that modern games should have a decent quality of graphics, and from WHAT WE CAN GARNER from this SHORT trailer, its not bad.STL_fpagsc wrote:Don't like the graphics. There's NO atmosphere in space and so the light can NOT be visible in space/vacuum, only on objects...

However, I think we should care more about the gameplay of X-R itself. So maybe the models aren't the best or for some reason look like some EVE ships, I can't care much. If the game has actual replay value, this feature trumps 'pretty graphics' any day.
I fly an OWP. What about you?

I completely agree with Mad_CatMk2 on this. Gameplay keeps you coming back time after time and is why most of the X series are still played today.Mad_CatMk2 wrote:I understand that modern games should have a decent quality of graphics, and from WHAT WE CAN GARNER from this SHORT trailer, its not bad.STL_fpagsc wrote:Don't like the graphics.
