no i don't have YAGG installed, but isn't that is for Gmax?

and how do i start YAGG or Dbox from MaxScript Listener?

Yea, I'm pretty sure YAGG is required with 3DS MAX as well as with GMAX.

See these images they show the menus in GMAX.

They may or may not be similar to 3DS MAX.

Try them now, they should work.

There is another MaxListener grabber that can be used, but YAGG is the one I use. And I'm not familiar with the other one, just know that it exists.

But, you do need one or the other, the exporter needs it to put the information into the correct file format for the game. And the importer needs it to get the information out of the file and into 3DS MAX or GMAX.

DBOX is not showing up in my list.

i keep trying to install DBOX, but it's keep giving me this message

Have you tried running the installer "as administrator" ?

If you are on Vista or Windows 7 you WILL need to do that.

Right click on the install program and select "Run As Administrator"

i am having problem exporting scaled Model with DBOX2

i scale my model to 250% of its original size.

exported with DBOX2

but then when i import the file i just exported , it's back to its original size. how do i get DBOX2 to export the scaled up model?

New version available:

Support for Collision box information. You must compile the BOD with X2BC 1.0.13.1 or newer. Older X2BC versions cannot handle this!

Edit:

You *don't* have to change anything in the Exporter settings - collision box scale. It's just an advanced setting. If you think that the AI is still not good with your ship, you may try to fiddle with that.

I noticed there's a collision box scaling under exporter settings. Do I have to set this up manually according to the size of my models or does DBOX do that automatically?

It's a ratio of the ship size. 1 fits the ship shape, 2 or higher increase it by that factor.

You don't have to change anything - it's just an override in case you want to fine tune the box.

As the functionality is quite new, you and others will have to find for themselves. I think it will work as it is.
There may be need to increase the collision sphere diameter for *small* ships as I noticed that the M5, M4 ships tend to have the diameter like 1.4. But according to my R&D department (a.k.a. Observe and Litcube) the sphere "doesn't do anything".

I wonder how the code actually managed to work for me... :gruebel: Oh yeah I know - because I didn't bothered to test it properly. 'Cos I don't do mistakes.

New version is available: DBOX 1.13 - eh I should have waited till Friday - that would be more classy :)
