As Bruce finishes hacking the Xenon ship, small fragments of the Oblivion Striker scattered before destroying the ship radiate with an unknown and powerful enregy (collected and intensified every time the Oblivion was destroyed by non- matter-antimatter weapons, making striker's attack do more harm than good) and recreate the Oblivion, but just barely in phase with the rest of the universe. Panicing, Bruce tries to destroy the Oblivion, but his shots simply pass through the ship due to it being out of phase. A Mamouth pulls a trans-orbital accelerator into a dense asteroid field nearby with a tractor beam and crashes into an asteroid after getting into position. I remotely direct the trans-orbital accelerator from the Oblivion. The trans-orbital accelerator pulls asteroids into it and fires them at near-light speed in the direction of Bruces Griffin, smashing it to bits. After Bruce has been flattened, the Oblivion comes completely out of phase with the universe, basically ceasing to exist

Ships log. Date can't remember.

We've run out of weed and the marines are getting sarky. Well I suppose
they've a right to complain. Since picking them up in my Hyperion they've
been a bit cramped down in the cargo hold. At least all five of them
fit in there.

What with all the keris drones, and assorted cargo it's maybe a bit snug
but I never promised them 5 * accommodation even if this time they
are 5 * marines. I made sure of it. Anyone who wasn't up to scratch
was spaced. Hang it all they even got some nice crates to sit on.

They're still not happy. Some of them have been complaining that
boarding hospital ships is unsporting.

ships log - date not a clue

Now the whiskeys run out as well. We'd better find something to board
soon, the guys are going spare.

Ships log - hang on we've spotted a Katana.

Keris drones away. That'll hold the shields, but I'll need something to
get them down quickly. I'll risk a single wraith missile.

That was a bit close, but the shields are almost down. The keris drones
are doing there stuff. Time to send the boys out the airloock.

It's getting a bit wild out there, but they've made it to the hull. The drones
are still on the case.

Nearly through. Time to send the drones away.

The boys seem a bit excited, especially the Boron. Well he knows his stuff
but he seems a bit manic to me.

Deck one cleared. No casualtys do far. At least none for us.
Deck two cleared.. Won't be long now.

At last the Katana is mine. One of the marines noticed a suited figure
making a run for it and asked for permission to fire.

No point I thought, we've got the ship. Time to head home.

Unfortunately for Bruce (and luckily for EmperJon), The MAML rounds that were fired at the Oblivion went out of phase as well without hitting the ship. After Bruce's marines took the Katana, the Oblivion once again partially came into phase with the universe and the MAML rounds flew out, completely in phase with the universe, and smashed into Bruce's Hyperion, wiping it from existance. Less than 5 seconds later, a Minotaur under my command moves in next to the Katana (which is still unshielded because the marines didn't activate them yet), fires a salvo of boarding pods at the Katana's bridge and the Minotaur's full compliment of marines kills off Bruce's marines before they can figure out what happened. They find EmperorJon in a cargo bay trying to get off the ship. Instead of placing the Katana under my command, I order the marines to return command of the ship to EmperorJon as a reward for his help in destroying Bruce's ship. The marines return to the boarding pods, which take them back to the Minotaur, and the warship moves off to return to base. Then the Oblivion comes out of phase again.

The Oblivion is permanantly removed from existence by GOD, its most basic particles turned to enrgy and then ripped out of reality itself.

So there.

Anyway, my pirate Carrack broadsides the damaged Hyperion, destroying it as it returns to base, taking moderate damage from the Hyperion's return fire.

I sidle up alongside the Carrack in my Tiger with a masked IFF, then make a sharp left turn. The Pirate frigate's decidedly inadequate shields and hull crumple and it explodes.

I then go to the local authorities to report a case of fatal space rage, posibly under the influence of narcotics.

No, mister, it was his fault I swear!

I can't get enough of how you guys are trying to destroy a ship that's in Limbo (or Kingdom Come or Oblivion, whatever you prefer) and therefore doesn't even exist while you're trying to destroy it! To make it fair, the Oblivion can't do anything by itself right now, but it can command other things under my control, like the trans-orbital accelerator that's probably still firing asteroids all over the place  or the Minotaur that's still heading to base, so THOSE are what people should be going after. Now for revenge for my first destruction! The Minotaur turns around to intercept Master of the Blade's ship with support from 4 other Minotaurs. They unleash 100 volley missle barrages at Master of the Blade and his ship is helpless to resist. The Minotaurs begin their trip back to base, missles still firing because of overkill

Bruce decided to talk to the Goners on this one. We need some religious
advice if this ship from the Netherworld.

On board the Gonar ranger we have collected metal fragments and
debris from the battles. The analysis results are very strange. After
consulation between the forensic experts and the best Goner priests
the conclusion is that the obliviator has been hiding not in Limbo, but in
Hell. It is further concluded that the ship has a curse on it not unlike that
of the Flying Dutchman

Consequently the priests have brought a cargo of water along from
the terran sectors and after a special ceremony, we now have a cargo
of Holy Water on board.

Bruce, accompanied by the priests proceeds with an old Earth exorcism
ritual, in the process much of the sector is covered in a thin mist of
Holy Water.

Should the obliviator reappear in the sector again even for a fraction of
of a second, it is the hope of the Goner priesthood that the curse will
finally be broken and the ship utterly destroyed.

Meanwhile, the Ancients have decided that the oblivion ship uses technology that no race should be aware of, and seal it in it's limbo plane, cutting it off completely from the universe, never to return.

With the potential threat of that ship and it's influence eliminated permanently, they return to pursuing their goals.

On a lighter note, my Hyperion Vanguard unleashes 8 PBGs on the Goner Ranger, exorcising it with fire.

As the Ancients and Bruce make their attempts to prevent the OBLIVION (at least get the ship's name right, Bruce. It's killed you at least 4 times now  ) from returning to the universe, I'm watching from the Oblivion's bridge and comment on Bruce's theory: completely wrong because the Oblivion is in Limbo (for the moment) and that it actually has an extremely chaotic nature that is strangthened by energy gathered whenever it gets damaged. As Bruce begins setting up his attempted trap and Callidus prepares to ambush the Goner Range after the trap is set, they are completely unaware of the 10 Mammoths that had entered the sector and were assembling the biggest jumpgate ever constructed. After the jumpgate's completion, a fleet of 6 Titans, 12 Minotaurs (including the ones that COULD have been destroyed but weren't.... I suggested destroying the ships I sent but you wouldn't listen  ), 10 Skirnirs, 5 Colossus-class carriers towing a neutron star, and their compliment of 300 Eclipse-class fighters. As everyone in the sector panics and tries to defend themselves against the massive fleet, they don't wonder what the neutron star is for. The Colossus-class carriers tow the neutron star to the center of the sector, recall their fighter compliments, eject about 150 crates of ore, and the entire fleet jumps out of the sector. The crates of ore hit the neutron star's surface, causing it to reach critical mass and collapse into a black hole. As everyone gets pulled in, they see the Oblivion move out of the black hole as if unaffected by the black hole and return to the universe. Then they all fall through the event horizon and into Limbo. The Oblivion then uses its antimatter weapons to bring the black hole's mass below critical mass and destroy it, preventing anyone from escaping. The Ancients, trying to stop the Oblivion, had sealed every other way out of Limbo

Sounds like the curse has been broken and the ship utterly destroyed, then.

NOW STOP BEING BORING AND INVINCIBLE. THAT IS NOT THE POINT.

As the mercury enters the gate, my Python just happens to be passing in the opposite direction to both the mercury and a Thresher travelling in the same direction as the Merc. As I swerve the Python to avoid the apparently drunken Boron frigate captain, I hear a *bonnng* sound on the side ofthe hull, and an explosion.

...oops...

A Zealous X3:R ship collector zooms through the gate in his LX, intent on capping! Sadly, the morale of prized pirate nova raider proves too high, and he is forced to destroy the ship.

Bruce, passing by in his hyperion, decides to launch a warning shot to discourage piracy.

Unfortunately he forgot to change the missile selection to Mosquito before
firing and a single Wraith tears the LX apart.

You do realize that there was a far simpler way to destroy the Oblivion, right? Allow me to demonstrate. As Bruce's Hyperion destroys the LX (about the same time as the Oblivion's return to the universe) my true flagship, the Superior, a Colossus class carrier, aproaches the Oblivion escorted by 3 other Colossus-class carriers, the Oblivion's entire crew ejects with a very unusual cargo (not the thing that made the Oblivion invincible), and are picked up by the carriers. I order the carriers to switch their weapons to the inverse of their usual energy frequency and open fire on the Oblivion. The moment the first shot hits, the Oblivion's hull starts to dematerialize at the point of impact (due to the fact that the inverse energy frequency negates the energy collected by impacts from standard energy frequencies) and the Oblivion no longer exists anywhere or in any dimension. As the carriers return to base, they see Bruce's Hyperion and, because the Argon and Paranid ARE at war with each other, blow the M6 to bits

how is it people seem to be finding it harder to find ways to destroy 4 carriers that actually CAN be destroyed than it is to find ways to destroy one "indestructable" warship with the power to wipe out entire fleets???
