Yes but while your doing this can you bring me home?Commander Jamieson wrote:Don't you believe it. The above might apply to the UK but in 1975 the Queen did dismiss a legally elected Government by the majority of the Australian people through her representative here, the Governor General. She has ABSOLUTE power here over OUR armed forces and over OUR parliament. And I mean ABSOLUTE! It is time we become a republic and get OUR OWN constitution here in Australia and kick out all these anachronistic lakays, who go back to the UK empire period.Lord_Vader wrote:...snip... They have no place in our (australian) history in this day and age.
It could happen in your neck of the woods too, whether this would be a good or bad thing (should this ever happen) in the UK, remains to be seen.
We almost had bloodshed here between the Monarchists and the REAL Australians when this happened in 1975.

Of course this forum is NO place for politics but it makes my blood boil seeing references to the Queen re dismissals. She is a nice lady and personally I hold her in high regards. It is only interfering in OUR (Australian) affairs where I could see red. I know she was wrongly adviced to do what she did here in 1975 but the whole episode might have been appliable when we were a colony of the UK.CMDR J Handby wrote:Is this realy the place for polotics!?
btw! CJ - your sig is still code. Us measly users can not see flash animation, -admins and mods can becuase they have HTML enabled...
Just thought id remiand you![]()
We are NOT a colony anymore, we are Australians.
Edit: I do not want a slanging war about the Queen, I only point out HISTORY as it happened in 1975 here in Australia.

Can't remember where I heard this tho, voices in head no doubt.
That refers to the passing of laws, not to the leadership of the country. Even then, the Lords can only send a bill back to the commons for further debate - ultimately the commons can force a bill through against the lords wishes, if so inclined.

By taking comtrol of the Queen, he may have control of the military (which, in itself, is debateable), but cloning requires willing women to act as 'hosts' of the cloned embryo's as we cannot yet grow a human child outside of the womb.
Also, these clones would take ATLEAST 15 years to reach fighting age, and then there is the matter of training these clones, arming these clones, all of which couldnt go unnoticed over such a period of time and could be stopped relatively easily before these clones would be any use to anyone other than the Russian mafia as hotdog meat.

I have seen it working on this forum, but it stopped working (for me) a few months ago, reverting to code.CMDR J Handby wrote:I have - 3 computers, 2 differnet broswers, 2 different OS's and updated versions of most drivers.

Hmmm...sending Bill Clinton to rule England huh?
I thought it was novel having a bloody hill billy for a president

He could play the sax....Could tell some good jokes from time to time...
Liked women so you knew he wasn't gay or anything....
I think the only thing the man couldn't do was run a country....But I'd rather have him right now than Bush...
Like they say...One Clinton is worth Two in the bush

Come on people.
Everyone seems to forget that we learned our "lets help the world by getting in everyone's business" attitude from the "let's invade, take over, serve tea and rule world" attitude the Brits had. Just because you got your butts kicked out of virtually every country you invaded does not mean you should suddenly take a "holier than thou" attitude. I have several Brittish friends that were never so ignorant as to assume the U.S. government represents the actual opinion of the average citizen here.
I personally think and agree with you guys. We should ignore everything outside our own country "like FORMER USSR", shut oursselves away from the problems of the world "like FORMER USSR", have no economic stance "like FORMER USSR" and eventually go broke, starve and collapse because of our bleeding-heart "oh I might offend somebody" attitude.
The truth is, your governments "Britain, France, Germany and every other eastern European country" are always asking the U.S. to come to the rescue of some ignorant thing they messed-up or can't handle.
Look at it from our angle.
We go to war against Iraq. We shouldn't need to, "this should have been taken care of the first time in 1991". I was in the military during this time by the way and it was our fault that we didn't take out Saddam then.
The U.S. sends in the majority "and I mean alot" of troops, supplies, and financing for this little "fun trip" the we cooked-up out of shear boredom.
Britain, Germany, Australia, Canada, France"doubtful" send in a small token force that could easily be out-numbered by a boyscout troop. They all send the same meager amount of resources and financing.
When everything is done, the U.S. spends zillions of dollars, provides food, medical supplies and relocation support. The European nations just kinda disappear and mutter something about the check being in the mail.
So who should be bitching here?! I think Americans should be as we always get left bent over taking one for your countries.
By the way, after WWII, it was BRITAIN who decided that ALL of the free nations should take it upon themselves to police the uncivilized can't take care of themselves, might decide to blow your dumbass up countries.
Guess which country got stuck with the bulk of that? Anyone? That's right, the U.S.
So I suggest two things,
1. Study history and real current events better, not just the gossip show on the tellie.
2. If you don't like your government, move. Iraq has alot of low cost housing.
