Vanilla-style:

1. Get a fast ship able to carry even XL-type cargo, like the Springblossom
2. Equip it with: jumpdrive, special command software, supply command software, transporter device; trading software mk 1/2 might also be needed since all this implies buying
3. Buy energy cells for it and configure it to auto-jump and auto-supply itself with energy cells for up to 100 jumps
4. Use one of the TS craft you've mentioned and buy all the stuff you want for that ONE ship
5. Order the Springblossom or whatever ship you chose at #1 to Special -> Equip ship like... -> Choose one of the freighters -> Select the equipped TS as template -> Wait for the Springblossom to gear the chosen TS as you equipped the first one
6. Repeat step #5 until you're done with all the freighters.

1st ship you select is one you want to be fitted and last is template?

Then it means the first ship you're prompted to choose is the template one and the next is the "destination"/objective ship.
Efficient GUI is something X3(TC) lacks in a joy.

Edit: I answered to the post before you edited it. Do more testing to see which variant applies.

Edit #2: You should also configure the ship to notify you when its orders are carried out. This way you'll be notified when the whole supply/equip order is done, giving you the freedom to do something else other than wait for its completion.

Here is a couple things to do

= OOS (Out of Sector) Equipping quickly =
Example, I wish to put 9 HEPTs on 10 Nova Raiders

- Put a ship with a transporter device and some other upgrades (i don't remember, I have a MORT that i just put every thing on) and give it 90 HEPT guns
- Get all your Nova Raiders in a wing. Tell your MORT to equip them with 9 HEPT and it will instantly transfer 9 HEPTs to each M3

= For those hard to buy things like PPC =
Example, I just bought a Boreas and I want to put 32 PPCs on it.

- I tell the Boreas to "Move to position" near a jumpgate in a safe place, like Argon Prime
- I get my MORT with about 3k e-cells (it is set to autojump) and tell it to equip the Boreas with 32 PPCs. It will take a while but your MORT will jump around and buy PPC and transfer them to the Boreas (assuming your MORT has Transporter device)

= Another thing I do with Carriers. =
Example, I am flying a Split Panther (with transporter device, and I just bought 10 Nova Raiders. I want to put 9 HEPT on each Nova

- I put 90 HEPT on my Panther
- I put all the Nova Raiders in a wing and dock them in the panther
- Now I say to the wing "Idle"
- QUickly, as soon as the ships leave the dock, I tell my panther to equip the wing with 9 HEPT, and instantly each Nova now has 9 HEPT

You mentioned freighters, which means 95% of your equipment needs will be software / hardware that cannot be bought in bulk.

So, an alternative:

1. Buy some type of carrier
- TM if poor : 4 slots
- Elephant : 14 slots

2. Buy a bunch of dockable ships
- Kestrels are the fastest, can take M-class cargo. Discoverer's are also good.
- Falcon Haulers are the only dockable ship that can take XL cargo. This is good for transferring Ore Collectors. Otherwise their speed isn't the best.

3. Dock the ships to the carrier and fly around gathering all necessary equipment.

4. Fly the carrier to the newly purchased TS's area and send the upgrade ships to dock in the same place as the TS's, or with transporter devices just have them follow the TS's in space.

5. Transfer necessary software / hardware

.............

Alternately: Just transfer jumpdrives, then adjust the settings for the 10-pack for auto-jump, give them ecells, then tell the group to 'dock at station X' and they'll all jump to station X'

EG:

10 Mistrals ---> Local Trading Dock (upgrade speed / rudder)
- Land a big TS with ecells and give every ship 100-500 ecells
- Land 10 Kestrels and transfer jumpdrives
- Adjust Autojump (Yes, 0, 50 usually is a good way to go)
---> Ianamus Zura (Software)
---> Home of Opportunity (more Ecells)
---> Home of Light (more software)
---> Argon Prime (Ore collectors if needed)

Forgive the incredibly noobish question, but what is a MORT?

A MORT is a manually operated remote trader.
Guns don't kill people, Split kill people.

I'm always up for a game of Monopoly.

Software is hard, but equipment is easy. Grab a TM, or TL and use a CLS system to stock it with equipment.
