Hi MarCon,
I still have the same issue with the menu on v4 hot fix, everything else displays and works fine:

The Details of Owned Shares will display the Exchange, but it won't display the shares, it's only an issue where sectors have been joined with the gate script.
In the screen Senator's Badlands works as expected.

Can you send me a PM with the sectors that you have joined with the gate script please. The reason i'm really trying to fix this is.
1. It's an issue that needs fixing, and
2. I can see that the same thing may be an issue that becomes present with gates realigned with the hub.

Nice buy on the Space Fuel by the way. 99 index in a pirate sector. The available amount of that is sure to go down and make you a tidy profit.

Glad to have finally got it sorted.
Now just to also sort the issue with Mods that add Extra large cargo storeage to stations. Tends to through the supply / demand calculations wright out the window

test v5 coming in a couple of days will have quite a few changes and fixes for menus and other display upgrades. Many from tester feedback, so thank you to the testers, your all doing a great job.

Hello Testers
If any of you have found and problems or things that need fixing, let me know. Or if you have any suggestions on things that could be changed or improved.
Upcoming test v5 has the following Additions / changes so far;
- Starting menu will only show 'View Summary' or 'View Detailed Summary' entries if you own shares somewhere.
- Cheat with being able to get paid when buying shares removed
- Additional expandable / collapable areas added to some menus.
- Summary menu has addition info displayed.
- Detailed Summary menu has trend indicator.
- Sectors lists at the top of menus sorted alphabetically.
- Many changes to the code behind the scence for better stability and accuracy of reporting.
- Linking multiple exchanges into one via gates or the Hub, issue resolved.

- I got sick of making decisions about what to include and how it should work, so guess what? Now YOU have to instead.
Working on revising the whole 'Naturals' ware structure and its pricing.
So if you can think of anything to add to this, lets hear it.

This project sounds very good. I'll have to take some economy courses probably, because my knowledge in this field is close to null. A few questions thought: It is all about wares, buying and selling shares on wares and trying to make profitss, right? We cannot buy shares of companies (factions) or factories, correct? Then there is not possibility of bankruptcy apart of our own.
Playing with those shares, we can have an influence on the wares prices in a station, thus maybe helping our factories to sell same wares with better profit and/or in bigger number. Still correct?
Will the other races be playing the game too or is it only in our hands?

You've asked some pretty good questions there so i'll answer as best i can.
- One of the things i've asked the testers to do is help me make it as easy as possable for non economically trained people to use.
- The most important thing to remember is to buy when the price is low and sell when the price is high. This info is displayed on the menu.
- However, the company shares part of it is going to be included, as is a bank that you can deposit credits into and recieve interest and also take loans.
- The intension of the Company Shares side of it is to have it as 2 types of company's.
- 1 will be for large company's that exist in the game already, Terra Corp, NMMC etc. These will work on their in game assets such as ships and so on. So bankruptcy is a possability if your game has scripts running that can cause harm to these company's or the player attacks them.
- 2 will be fictional smaller company's that are created from the 'Forum Users Name List'. The share prices for these will be generated via a script. I hadn't give bankruptcy any thought for these company's, but it could be a possability if i want to script it in.
- However, buying and sell the 'wares' from these stations will have an effect.
- One benifit the player will have is seeing areas that have a high demand for products but very little supply. This will cause the share prices to stay very still, thus not much ability to make money from shares. These areas will be prime places for the player to build stations and make money from selling the wares from the station and this will make the share price rise and fall more so you can also make money on the share maket because you have increased supply for the demand.
This is only Part of the big picture.

Thats the general plan and idea, however if you don't have enough assets anymore to be reposesed and cover the debt, you will take a nasty hit to your rep with the Races is another idea i had, and it should be proportional to the debt still owing after ALL your assets are seized.Logain Abler wrote:How will the loan element work?

This is the reason i decided to start testing early and as i go along. If you got all this coded and then released, debuging would be a nightmare.

So this is a much more ambitious project than I thought. How third party script friendly will it be? Scripts like Litcube Phanon Corporation that add factions for exemple, will they be recognised?mark_a_condren wrote:

As for the loan question, they will send police vessels to seize your property or do you plan it to happen instantly without the player being able to interfere? I mean, there wouldn't be much to do if Argon seize your factory in Argon Prime, but if your factory is in a Paranid sector, that could make sense to try to stop them.
This seems to be a never ending project. Meaning that it could be refined or expanded indefinitely. I'm quite enthusiastic. No more coffee for your Marcon, you have work to do!

Maybe to ambitious, prob biting off more than i can chew.
I'll make it as compatable as i can and adjust it as it goes i suppose with updates after release.
Interfering with reposessions would be good and i like your idea, all i can say is i don't know atm.
I think it could go on for quite while after initial release with addons / updates and such.
Oh crap, what have i done, oh well just keep going i suppose.

Looks great. Loved the stock exchange script in X3:R even though it fell apart in the end and it was left unattended. Gave a whole new view of the world as prices fluctuated according to what you bought/sold.
Does this version got the 'too big to fail' button too?

I've updated the OP with the new versions of the Menus that the testers will be getting very shortly.
And testers, i would suggest you have a Good look at the Options menu. I no longer have to make all the choices, now you do.

No it doesn't need a new start. Runs in an existing game fine.
Did you extract straight to your TC directory folder or to somewhere else and copy them over to 'scripts' and 't' ?
EDIT:
I'm bad !! wrong file in v5. The correct file is on its way in a minute. Everyone else will be fine as they already have the correct file from prev versions.
