Which will probably against rules of Fleet Fest II
Anyway, the first time I'd see fleet fielded like that would cause me to counter it with an Oddy and PSGs at all ends. The range of those almost equals with the IRE so you would probably get a nice laggy round with the sound of popcorn being made.

I tested it against an Oddy with PSG all round - and it was instadeath for the Harriers - Plus too much for my PC to handle.Cpt.Jericho wrote:Which will probably against rules of Fleet Fest II

The fleet was summarily withdrawn....

One thing which seems to have had an affect on the preliminary round (and I think may affect others) is that short range weapons just don't seem to be handled well by the AI. Especially on a fairly big ship. Even more so when that big ship is going after another big ship. In other words, PBG (mass drivers & PBE) ain't good on an AI M6 going up against an M6 or bigger...

Well, you have access to the scripts - just try it and watch on Slideshow Vision how the Kestrels lose. The PSG might have a shorter range than the PAC, but whatever comes behind the first Kestrel will be toast; ever heard of the Blue Orb of Destruction?

Er, no! PPCs are more expensive than IBLs.Alex Vanderbilt wrote:I'd rather use PPC instead to of IBL, because they are cheaper and offer more BOOM for the buck.

Watched the 1st 2 fights on youtube.... wow those Springys were effective, I shed a little tear for all those poor Split ships. Glad to see the Split redeem themselves tho.
Thank you Technojerk for putting this on, I am sure its highly time consuming, but its very fun and educational (in a purely recreational way). I had to say, after making my own small flotilla of ships to follow me around for missions, I am very disappointed in the skills of CIG,ISR,IBL gunners...
IBLs are way out classed by PPC, unless you are in an M7, which seems to be the only reason IBLs exist... and also ofc, to give the game a developing pirate faction storyline.
What is truly odd about IBLs is the npc's fascination with them. Everything has them equipped, lol.

Well, to be fair: The Split capships in the first battle had only minimum shielding!
As for the IBL: I agree that the PPC is far better and IBLs are more for M7s. Considering my fleet with 2 Panthers having 12 IBLs mounted on front turrets they have a chance to destroy an M2 - if only because they are two ships and PPCs can (as most other weapon) be fired at only 1 ship at a time + my 2 Panthers cost less than most full equipped M2s.

Good to see that everyone is having a great time debating everything
Perhaps we should rename this competition into XDF (X-verse Debate Fest)
The Mutiny vs Le Baron video should be up some time this weekend with the next match sometime this weekend also.

We should not do that.
That is my firm opinion.
My belief is that this is not to be done.
Oh wait, I'm debating again.

Okay, Oddy with 8G, 24 PSG, 16 PPC. Set as XenonCpt.Jericho wrote:Well, you have access to the scripts - just try it and watch on Slideshow Vision how the Kestrels lose. 380 Kestrel 5M 2 PAC set to attack all enemies, 20Km away.
Pretty odd results. I used a save file and loaded it up 10 times and just let it run. I viewed the action from 10-15Km. Smooth frame rate. Sometimes zoomed in (I wondered if that affected the results?).
Surviving kestrels for each run

Where the Oddy won remaining hull was respectively 95%, 48%, 26%.
Pelicans did not engage.
