Nice job TJ! :D

Which arena are you going to use? I think I'm going to do an introductory write-up for each as they come up.

Thanks guys :)

I'll see if I can get a video of the robots up on Youtube.

Tenlar, I'm going to use deathmatch_Geosynchronous

EDIT: Whoa, the music for the sector, where'd you get it from? I've heard it somewhere before.

I wasn't thinking about keeping the costs, no. Where a ship is much better than the class average you could increase the points cost for that one (like the Hyp example). The idea being it's a way to bring into the game the ships which aren't currently buyable (eg Xenon) without the current issue of cost. And, it should be easier to check compliance with the rules, since they'd be defined here!

It would provoke slightly different fleets, since you wouldn't have the existing game prices moving people towards certain ships...

(@ Perkint) I think that would probably create too much argument over what ship was worth what points - It is evident that we all have our preferences from the variety of fleets - HOWEVER to assign costs for the non-buyable ships only would be slightly less controversial as long as it was decided by a closed group and not put up for public debate! - BUT I also liked what I perceived as your idea in the first place!

Ok results and saves are up. Video will be up tomorrow. I've set the colour of the winner and the one sentence summary to black so spoiler tags don't have to be used. :D

Agreed. :)

Re: point system in lieu of in-game ship costs, perhaps possible - but there's not much getting around the Solano simply being superior in most ways to all other advanced interceptors. If she cost the same as the other race interceptors, it would hardly be fair...

Though I've heard tell of OTAS ships being barred from XFFII, which would solve that problem specifically. :P The tradeoff in a point-based system, then, would be making ships like the Solano, Murderblossom, and Spitfyre illegal - or arbitrarily more expensive.

Unless you use a different skin for your forum ;)

However: I was able to download the save ooowweeee! Though I hardly believe the outcome you posted. Well, looks like I'll have to see that with my own eyes.

To play the save game properly we still need the script installed or does it run without too?

Write up for our inaugural fight in Earth Geosynchronous Orbit...

The first official match of the season will, at great expense, have the Argon and Terran homeworld planet Earth as its backdrop, in the very recently constructed Earth Geosynchronous Stadium. A very large sum of credits, political connections, and spies were spent to gain the rights to a plot of space directly above Earth, and the conditions were not easy - namely, the planet-encircling Torus had to be visually shielded, not to mention (REDACTED - ORDER OF ATF CODEX SECTION 6A). With camouflage devices firmly in place, the view offered here is one of the most stunning in the galaxy, and the presence of no fewer than (REDACTED - ORDER OF ATF CODEX SECTION 8B) (REDACTED - ORDER OF ATF CODEX SECTION 4C-a) - class ATF battle ships has done nothing to dampen enthusiasm for the first match. Expect a great show!

I'm not sure how effective the PALCs actually were in that fight, but in my run the Ospreys were really beaten by the fact that they were chasing after Kestrels while being picked off by the capital ships (which Aro planned of course :P )

PALCs are so pretty though, with the big sweeping beams and the large mirror setup on the turret (unless mine eyes decieve me).

Mainly the choice of weapons which were set up for a combat against fighters, but not against cap ships. I wonder how the PALC work against captial ships, tho. :D

It was probably the fact that the Ospreys had PBGs as their main damage dealing weapons that ruined their chances. The AI tried shooting at Aro's cap ships with the weaker weapons and missed half the time. The PALCs didn't do much damage but they pretty much never missed. The cap ships slowly and steadily took down the Ospreys. (And made an excellent light show at the same time :D)

I've also posted the rankings/tree/table/board/whateverit'scalled. Check the second post to see who you're up against. I haven't used any lines as they wrecked the look of it. Basically, it's in pairs. Eg, Mutiny is facing Le Baron and Sticks is facing Algoran.

What order are you playing them in? Down the left then down the right, or top left 2, top right 2, next 2 on the left, next 2 on the right, etc?

Excited, anyway - I'm in the 1st few matches (I assume...).

I might not be playing any matches if the script for spawning fleets isn't 2.6 compatible! Same goes for the maps. I guess I'll have to wait and see if they work in 2.6.

I'll go down the list starting on the left hand side. Looks like Deadbeat vs Tenlar will be the last match. :P

Ouch, I'm up against Stealth Hunter, aparently.. Oh dear, he has a very decent fleet. Can't wait :)

Also looking very forward to Merdocharr vs. Killjaeden, for certain reasons :)

And pretty much all others too.
