I have a question about STEAM (oh no not another one )
Apologies if this is off topic
If I am using Linux (Ubuntu to be specific) and I download a game through STEAM
that is not Linux compatible (X3TC for example)
Does STEAM make that game playable on Linux ? or would I still need a Windows Emulator (WINE for example) ?
Are this mean that all scripts and mods what was compatible with 2.5 dont work with 2.6 and we must wait till authors change them and we must again owerwrite them?
And still thanx to EGO and others who involved with this great patch!

It's same as every other patch. Mods will be broken if new cat/dat files are added in the patch that update resource files that your Mod changes.
Scripts are usually ok, but there can be rare compatibility issues if Ego made changes.
To rephrase it slightly, mods may be broken by the patch, but for compatibility questions, you need to post them into the threads for the mod/script in question.
There is no public info as to what this patch contains yet. This will be publicised when Ego are ready...
As to whether all achievements will automatically be granted if your existing save game has already passed that point - you will have to wait and see what the final release notes say...

Struggling to find something from the forums - Google it!!!

As I own the DVD, can re-install anytime I like, and don't need an internet connection
(5GB download would cost me about £30 as I'm on PAYG)
I see no need to register with STEAM. But that's my opinion on my situation, it may be different for you.
And yes, a HUGE pat on the back to the devs.
Alien.
If you know someone else who has Steam on a fast link you could log into steam on their machine (using your account!), register your game, download it, then make a Steam backup. That can then be transfered to your machine on dvd.
why go to all that trouble when we have a perfect system now with a DVD
as long as those who dont want to use steam can still use the patch ive no problem with this, but if you have to use steam to acces the game i wont be installing this or any more patches

{sigh} Clearly the Steam haters aren't real big on reading entire topics, even ones with multiple dev posts in them.
YOU
DO
* NOT *
NEED
STEAM
FOR
THE
PATCH!!!
As the first post says, the patch will enable current game owners to register their game on Steam and, in so doing, have achievements tracked on their social system. "Enables," not "requires."
Hey guys, I was wondering......you know, giving us a key for steam is quite generous so.....is that possible that this petch news release is only Aprils fools day joke?
I mean, you didnt release any news on twitter since Xmas and suddenly you release such good new, and esxactly a couple of days before 1st April....
