I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick and X3 Reunion 2.0 w/Bala Gi's Research Missions updated to v2.5 as well as X3 Bonus Package 3.1.07 and X3 Cockpit Mod 1.03. Mouse control is irratic and difficult, and I thought that the joystick would allieviate this and make the game play more enjoyable, however I have some operator/programing problems in getting the joystick to respond properly to the game. I just started playing this game and could enjoy it if the gui was more stable. Is there anybody that has gone thru this problem before that could could direct me to a usable profile for this joystick so that I could learn this game? It would be deeply appreciated!!!

Oh, i was just about to say this should be in the S&M forum due to the cockpit mod! Anyway, i have seen a few interesting posts on Joysticks in the past... you can do a search or perhaps a moderator can provide a link?1Maldek3 wrote:I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick and X3 Reunion 2.0 w/Bala Gi's Research Missions updated to v2.5 as well as X3 Bonus Package 3.1.07 and X3 Cockpit Mod 1.03. I can remember having some difficulty playing X2 with my old mouse i used to have..... it was so difficult, my arm would actually start aching from all the desperate arm swinging i was doing! Anyway since then i bought a special mouse with its own sensitivity settings and both X2 and X3R play fantastic!
What intriguing weapons and shields will you use to protect your trade ships and sectors from the Khaak when your not home? unless you can afford capital ships *and luck* its all for nothing, NOTHING! Mwaahhhhahaha
*(amendment for TC since all the good strategy and planning is no longer enough, you also need luck)*

Thanks for clearing the brain fog!!!!
I really appreciate the info from "TheJakal" & "mysticmind2005" it just never dawned on me that the mouse could make that much of a difference, so I surfed to Newegg and looked at a few and you have me sold as soon as I get paid again I'm getting one. I really didn't like the idea of switching between joystick & mouse. This is the only game I've played besides Freelancer. Now I know why I couldn't get the Monkey Universe Mod dialed in! "All The Way" Thanks.

Hmm TTD I would to disagree witht he throttle opinion. As much as its a funky feature its not very practical in battle. If the throttle was say above button number 3 it would be of use in battle but seeing as my hands are usually over the keybaord anyway using the keyboard keys for the throttle makes more sense and is more comfortable.
Plus dont start a game with the throttle forward lol. The ship immediatly acceleraates and usually into the back of the instructor casuing my death several times in a M5 ship size start game lol.
Cheers

On the other hand, the throttle on my 'stick, a CH Products Flightstick Pro, is comfortably just below the bottom of the handle on the base, and makes it very easy to control while fighting. My left hand is generally occupied with rolling and strafing the ship, so it doesn't have much time left over for tap-tap-taping the throttle keys, which I find harder to set and keep a speed.TheJakal wrote:Hmm TTD I would to disagree witht he throttle opinion. That shouldn't happen, or at least it doesn't on mine. The throttle wheel can be set anywhere, but my speed is always at zero when I load a game. I have to actively push the tab button, or change the throttle setting, to get my ship to move initially.Plus dont start a game with the throttle forward lol. Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Yer its the same position on the Attack 3 (I think) but I just find it uncomfortable. I always have my left hand over the keybaord on the starfe keys as you said you do and my right on the joystick with my finger on the trigger. As such I can't reach the throttle wihtou giving up either the starfe or firing ability. Like I said the best place would be ont eh top of the joystick so I can use my thumb to control it while still firing and starfing.
The start thing however I have no idea but it does. If I have my throttle set all the way back (like I always do) if i start a new game the craft will stop then start going backwards at -10mps.
Cheers
