X3:TC mines

Post by Daniel121 »

Hello,

I have just begun the PHQ hub plot and need to clear a yaki minefield.

All my ships are Terran, so I cannot use the normal missiles to clear the minefield.

The Shift+T to target the closest object thingy doesnt seem to work in 2.5 to target mines.

When I use autopilot to attack the mine my game crashes.

Is there a terran missile I could use to clear the minefield? How do I do it?

Just set the Shift+t mode on to track for targets and fly closer. use the normal guns at long range to take them down. Tracking them down was painful, i think i used in 2.0 the map itself and attempted to find them with the sector map.

:)

-> if you have a M3 with 5+ x 25MJ or 200MJ shields or a M6 you have nothing to worry about. just fly slowly (important) , maybe at 50-90 m/s ,through the minefield. If a mine explodes you stop and wait for the shields to regenerate.

I can tell this is going to be fun.

I did try that, scanning with the shift+t thing. Didnt get anything after 10 minutes so resorted to punching the keyboard.

Target Nearest enemy usually works for me, as long as there aren't any ships around.

Of course you could try carpet bombing with PSG's.

I did it in an M7 by simply running over the mines (go where the gold arrow points till it points somewhere else (no damage at all, not even to shields).

You could also buy the cheapest commonwealth ship that can mount tempest missiles (those auto-aquire).

Good luck :)

Does it not work if you have a turret set on "attack all enemies"? I seem to recall flying through LooManckStrat's in a M2 with my turrets all set such, and watching them fire seemingly at nothing for ages, 'till I twigged that there was a minefield there.
Sum, ergo cogito.
