[SHIPS] Homeworld 2 ships pack

Homeworld 2 ships ported to X3TC


This is not the full-fledged mod, just the draft ship pack.

To test the ships one should spawn them with script (e.g. Cheat Package).

Feel free to modify, correct or enhance the content of this pack in any way (with appropriate credits).

This ship pack is released as is. By using it you take upon yourself all the responsibility for any possible damage this pack can cause to whatever.

What you will find within:

Mothership (Pride of Hiigara) - M1 class ship, can dock fighters and standard ships (TS, M6 ...) into the common internal hangar.

Sajuuk - M2 class ship.

Vaygr Shipyard - TL class ship, no docking slots available.

The configs are mainly copied from argon ships.

The files are not packed into cat/dat. To quick test the ships, copy the files to your X3TC folder maintaining the directory structure.

Known issues:

Mothership is too big (about 5 km tall) to fit into the standard gates. One can use point to point jump drive or increase the gates size
(modified gates are not included).
Due to its unusual form it is very possible for Mothership to have problems while docking with stations.

Sajuuk's main beam has to be fired straight ahead. Due to the X3TC hardcoded turrets behaviour this could be done only with scripts.
Without appropriate turret scripts the beam can fire through the hull.

Wow looking good! Cant tell by the pics but it looks like the textures are updated to x3 standards and not the cartoony hw2 textures. Great job!

I was thinking the HW2 project was dead. This is looking GREAT, I love the texture change from Homeworld 2 style to a more EVE look. A more serious Homeworld 2 look I think is exactly what it needs to fit in with the rest of the X universe.

It seems that the HW2 project is really dead ATM unfortunately. What you will see here (I hope) will be just a pack of refurbished and edited HW2 ships which one can insert into his/her mod or game. I am doing this for my own mod of course.
As for my mod (or mods) I have plans too global and time too limited to predict release dates.

well we all appreciate the work your doing to bring these sexy ships in game. :P What i am really waiting for is those eve ships. i would try to port them in myself but i have zero knowledge on texturing or porting models into x3. So all my hope rest upon your shoulders (no pressure) lol

What size can we expect all of the starships to be? Are the frigates going to be X3 corvette sized (as they seem to be in Homeworld 2) or are you going to scale them up to be the size of proper X3 frigates? I would prefer leaving them down to corvette-size, personally, and leaving them at corvette strength, because that's about as true-to-homeworld as one can get.

Likewise, the Pride better be Valhalla sized or I'm going to be very upset.

Freaking awesome work so far man! I'm loving the sajuuk so far, just a little idea I thought I might throw your way:

would you consider making sajuuk an M0 (its bigger than the hiigy and vaygr ms') and giving it a hanger section in the bottom rear part so it can have M6 internal docking or something like that (below where the cores are housed there is a pit on the underside which looked quite awesome but didnt do anything, thats where I mean).

Looking forward to any more ships you release, the vaygr flagship already looks sweet. (although in one of the pics it looks a little skinny, but i'm sure you are / have sorted this out) :twisted:

Sajuuk will be an M2. Very destroyerlooking thing for me. There will be no hangars on any ships. Moreover, I will close the hangars where original HW2 ships have them.

Sorted out?! :shock: Man, I have made it to be skinny and have had some good time with UVW mapping because of that :twisted:. It will stay like this.

I planned to write the disclaimer at release time. However, I have to append it to the first post now to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.

Hmmm... I've seen Homeworld 2 only on videos, but Sajuuk seems to be more of an M0-thing to me - one of a kind super ship that dwarfs anything else, whereas the Hiigaran Battlecruiser would be the M2 equivalent.

Of course, I don't have length measurements for any of those ships.
In between life and death, there is only one dream to care for.

Not possible to define an M0 in game anyway (though Sajuuk might well fit the bill), but as he has himself stated, it's up to KNT79 to decide what class the ships are. Hell, he could make Sajuuk an M3 if he really wanted to. So please let's not irritate him, these are wonderful models and I'd love to see them ingame in whatever form.

Why would you close the hangars on ships? Especially for the Vagyr Flagship and the Pride, those hangars are what make those ships them - they have no legitimate firepower of their own, much like regular X3 carriers.
