how to input Coordinates and fly to them?
gday all
so i have decided to fly around a pick up the ownerless ships that are floating around space to make a quick couple of credits. I have hit yet another brickwall which seems to be a very minor problem.
my problem is that i have no idea how to interupt the coordinates given by the such websites. i stumbled across current ship>autopilot>command console but i just can't seem to find anything. also many google searches have come up without result
thanks again

I don't think there is a way input coordinates. You have to pull up your sector map, then use the number pad to move the cursor (using the 2, 4, 6, 8 keys) to the x and z position you want, then press insert to flip the grid and move the cursor to your desired y position. After that, just press enter and your ship will fly to that position. If there is something you're looking for at that position, you should see it before you get there, as it enters your gravidar range.

I'm really new too, but I just figured this out yesterday. I had a military transport, 7 automatic traders, a bunch of M3s, a jumpdrive, yada yada and I still didn't know how to use the move position command properly!
I couldn't understand why it made you only move to an object on the map by clicking it. I wanted to just click somewhere and move there/have my ships move there. Eventually I figured out that you're supposed to use the numpad to move the cursor around, and then you press enter once its where you want.
To 'input co-ordinates', what you'll want to do is watch the bottom right of the map, where the three co-ordinates X, Y and Z are listed for your current object. If I remember right, as you move the cusror around, it will show you what co-ordinates it is at. Find the right co-ords with your cursor, then hit enter and you'll fly there!
Good luck! And if you've got the cash, I highly reccomend getting a Militry Transport (TM) and sticking a jumpdrive in it with a big supply of energy cells (600/700). Then dock yourself with it and you can just jump to every sector you've been to that is near the sector you want to derelict-hunt in, and you can stick the derelict in your transport and jump back to base when you're done!
Not to mention having a poor man's carrier is still damn good fun

Alternately, go "modified", hit "Scripts & Modding" for apricotslice's "Jump to Derelict" command, grab a ship with a jumpdrive & some e-cells, & it'll take you straight to them (using a carrier ship for this is advisable as all but the 2 TPs are M3-M5 class, alternately, use 2 ships with the carrier as the 2nd, jump both ships in to the 1st one, claim the ship, jump to the next, dock the 1st to the carrier, jump it to the 2nd, repeat all steps from "claim the ship" until you've got all of them).

The cursors are a very useful map tool which can be a little tricky to use at first.
Station building and fly to/jump to commands require you to get used to them and the insert key (map axis).
The 5 key on the numpad will reset the cursor (Building/to commands) and also center the cursor on the nearest target to them in the local system map
This can help you identify and lock on to traffic in the sector your in without cycling through the map list.
You should also look at how the mouse will set a point for the cursor when you left click once on the grid.
Select a point with the mouse and then start using the cursors from there. This will save you a lot of time with station building. Always check the map axis (Insert) before placing a station
A double click of the mouse will finalize that point for station construction and ship destination. It can also activate your autopilot.
Hope this helps

She was right. Selection B4, His most recent hit, 'Nowhere Nuthin' ****-up,' a sentimental number.

If you need a database of sorts, try this. The download links you to an excel file, which has a lot of information about all the ship classes, factories, resources, ship equipment and addons, asteroid yields, weapons, and so forth. If you open that excel file, look at all the tabs on the bottom until you see TM, click on it, and it will show all the available TMs in the game, along with all of their prices and specifications (speed, hull and shield integrity, cargo capacity, etc.)
If you prefer something online or don't want to use excel, you can try this website, which also lists a lot of information about ships, weapons, sectors, etc. Just choose "Space Ships Properties" on the left column, and you can either look up a specific ship name, or filter by ship class and race.
Anyways, I hope this helps.

Noob question: How big do these sectors get (kilometer wise)?
I just bought the game a few days ago and was looking for the South Gate in The Hole sector. I found the coordinates online and was surprised to learn that the Y coordinate was 56,000 kilometers! I don't think I could have found that on my own.
Also, is there a way to display the coordinates while you're flying, rather than just on the map view?

just select your ship in the sector map view and your coordinates will be shown as you fly.sam81 wrote:Doh!
That makes it easier.
Is there a way to display the coordinates while you're actually flying? That would be helpful.
