Hey there,
I have a problem with the combination of X3:R+XTM.75+Ashley's Fabs+Pluginmanager

The Pluginmanager.cat isn't read properly when scanning ships (I have 3 .xsp ships: Normandy, Yorktown, Missouri; all from X-Fleet).

If I remove the Pluginmanager.cat from the game directory, everything works fine, if it is placed inside "mods", the viewer just stops reading and I have to kill the process to quit.
And if I remove Pluginmanager.cat from "mods" and use it as a fake-patch, the viewer does not show the ships in the list anymore. It s just empty! :o

Have a nice f(l)ight
jadmanthrat

edit: Tried again as fake-patch, result: Viewer stopped at reading ships :(

Mr.Exo? Im attampting to download the Ship Viewer for the 3rd time and each of the downloads are 3MB incomplete. Ionly manage to download 4.04 MB of the 7MB download and when I click on the Program itself to install, it says it is either damaged, imcomplete or a virus.

Don't suppose you have a mirror download where its available? I reckon you should download a copy of it to see what I mean.

Im downloading off your site: http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/XModels3DVi ... taller.exe

Hope you can sort it out asap. I wanna see me ships I gots.

Spanks alot.

N0 Sw34r, try this test exe for X-Fleet pluginmanager,
copy it to where you installed the viewer to.
(This is just the viewer exe, not an installer)

zombie-uk,
it seems to be downloading OK here at 400K,
I count 24 single-piece downloads so far today,
so maybe you hit a slow-spot, perhaps try again?

I've got a little problem.
After I-ve reinstalled windows, the 3DViewer always says something like "Error: Can't find d3dx9_37.dll".
I've looked in the installation folder of 3D Viewer and this file is in there.
This program can't start. I need it so much to check the scenes and textures.
Please help.

Are you running a 64 bit OS ?

A few posts back:
Alan Phipps wrote:I'm using the Viewer 2.0.0.2 with Vista x64 and the dll in the folder which works correctly is the d3dx9_37.dll. However, that folder is in Programs (x86) and not in Programs. I see you are using drive I anyway.
Would have thought the viewer would use the local (to the exe) version of the dll.

Perhaps try copying the _37 dll to your windows system directory?

I have had a problem when using Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (rc) 64-bit version.

I solved the installation by simply renaming the supplied .dll to the one asked for. YOu DO NOT need to copy ANYTHING. Especially do not start adding Dx9 .dlls randomly to the system32 directory. Simply install it:-

Despite the error messages it DOES in fact install!

1. Find the install directory C:\Program Files\XModels3DViewer
2. COPY the file d3dx9_37.dll and give the copy a different name.
3. RENAME the COPY of d3dx9_37.dll and name it d3dx9_29.dll
4. Leave BOTH in C:\Program Files\XModels3DViewer

Done? - it works!

Hope this helps someone. Smile

Thank you very much exogenesis! Brilliant Program! Extremely usefull!
Who has eyes to read, has a better way in life :-)

Thanks, that wors now^^

Excellent, glad that workaround works :)

In reply to Idea's post in other forum:
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 48#3079448

Looks like the normals at the vertices of each triangular plane vertex are either wrong,
or are being read-in wrong by the viewer.

I've seen 4 formats for normals in textual bod body files so far,
only one for binary bob body files,
you may have a new (to me) format in your bob file

Don't recognise the ship, or name yaki2.bob, is that your own,
if so how did you create the bob body file, using 3dsmax & dbox ?

Perhaps you could point me to where I could download it
(the .bob file), to try it out & see if I can see what's wrong.

Hi exogenesis

Thanks for responding.

Yes.That ship is my design.I diden't had the problem with texture untile I instaled the latest relesse. The one I had was 2.0.0.2.Unfortunately I deleted the old one so I don't have it any more. Also the thing I have noticed is that the Viewer is slower now. When I rotate the ship and when he rotate automaticly the view is like a slide show.

Curently I am not at home but will see to upload the bod file somewere today or I could send you it on your e-mail if you want. The programs I used are 3dsmax and dbox of course.

I am having an interesting problem. I have two installs of X3TC on a new Windows 7 x64 installation. I have Transcend installed on one installation and a few mods installed on the other. However when I load up the model viewer to view the modded X3TC, it will read everything but none of the custom models will show up (using x2 callback by killerog and FDN by Logain Abler) if they are in as fake patches. If i move the cat/dat to the mod folder it reads them and a mod tab shows up but it is empty. When the viewer tries to load the transcend files it gets down to populate universe and just hangs.

StormMagi, try this interim release for TransendII,
not sure about the other mods, tell me if this one works:
(Also contains the fix for Idea's prob.)

This is the executable only, copy to the place the viewer installed to:

(360 KBytes)

if you haven't got WinRar then

(1.5 MBytes)

I got the other mods to show up (was an error on my part) but TranscendII still hangs when populating the universe (about the last 5%).

2.0.0.9 works here for TranscendII,
(Are you sure you're running the new exe above?)

Perhaps could you try it without the extra mods to check?

viewer 2.0.0.9 works here for TII 3.0.0 & 3.0.2,
sure you haven't got any residual other modified files?
