How do i get them to do anything but fly in circles? i set them up picked the stuff and let it go and it dropped its beacon and then started flying in circles and after watching for like 10 min on seta it still hadnt collected anything so is it training or just stupid? Also when i get close it starts going WARNING MINER... so what do i do? Thanks

The behaviour you describe suggests that all the rocks in the sector need to be broken before collection, & Apprentice level Prospectors can't break rocks,
train them up a few levels with CLS or CAG 1st.

i had already broke some rocks up for them do i need to really break ALL of the rocks up and also what do u mean by CLS or CAG? Thanks

Commodity Logistics Software (CLS)
Commercial Agent (CAG )

... if they don't want to start to work while you are IS you could try to leave the sector and see if they start working then. Also they will only mine minerals which are within their scanner range. If they can't see them, they can't mine them.

I forgot ... If you think there is something wrong with your prospector, post a log. You can do that in the prospector console:

is there any other way to train them besides using CLS or CAG? Dont have them downloaded.

Let them mine in sectors with a lot of small debris. For example a sector like Ore Belt.

ok so just making sure i can send the prospectors to the ore belt and leave and they will start mineing right away with no help from me and then after they have worked for a while and get to lead miner if i remember correctly i can send them so savage spur and then they can blow up and mine as many asteroides as they can? Also how long does it take them to lvl up? Thanks

Ore belt should have enough debris in the whole sector so that your prospector should easily find some to collect.

The prospector will gain it's better ranks dependent of time. I don't know how long it will take, but you will get silent messanges from your prospector into your ingame logbook as soon as it gains a higher rank. At least if you activate these messages in the prospectors options, but they are activated as default.

everything works good and they are lvling up slowly but just trying to remember how do i make them blow up unlimited asteroids whenthey get to lead miner? cause i remember reading that they only blow up like 1 or something so...??? Thanks

Preferred Mineral
Normally, the prospector will mine the mineral at the lowest level in the homebase, or will mine the mineral in his ship's name. Here you can set a preferred mineral, which has a higher priority than the default rule. Also this menu will say which mineral the prospector just mined.

Blow up Asteroids
A prospector with rank Lead Miner or higher can blow up asteroids. (Asteroids are rocks that a mining station can be placed on.) First, select a preferred mineral, then use this menu item to select how many asteroids and a maximum yield. The prospector stops mining and begins to break up the asteroids.
To blow up a unlimited number of asteroids, simply enter -1 for that option (Destroy Asteroid Number), next you have to enter the maximal yield for asteroids to be allowed to blow them up.

If you enter another number than -1 in the first input-field, he will mine as much asteriods as you entered there.

I just realized ... the option for unlimited mining is avaible in the latest version only. That's Version 3.2.01 at the moment. The English topic didn't get updated for quite a while now. Just download the version from the German topic, linked above, the English language file is included.

If you don't want to update, simply enter a very large number instead of -1.

ps, fyi: with version 3.1.09 the calculation of the rank improving got optimized. They check already while mining if they reached the necessary time for a higher rank. Before that optimization they only checked after mining, so they could have "lost" time as far as I remember.

I have a TS set up with the required software and an MDS mounted in the front turret. When I send it off to mine it never uses the MDS and just seems to bash into rocks too large to collect in order to break them up rather than shooting them. I've sat and watched the shields vanish until no ship, all without it ever firing a shot. Any idea why?

How do u trade minerals using a TL?

I see that u can equip ypur prospector with TL, TS. M6 and M3, but I cant figure out how does it work if u equip them with a TL?.

I mean the thing cant land in stations so how do they sell their cargo or deliver it to its homebase if one was assign?

You could use other scripts, like commodity logistics software by lucike. Also, freight drones should work I think, but I don't know if you have to sell then by hand.

A TL probably wouldn't be so good of a choice for selling minerals: I'd either see if there's a script that'll let a TS use the TL as a homebase and sell them (one of Lucike's other scripts? Not sure) or manually transfer the minerals using the transporter device to other ships and selling them that way.

A TL isn't a Seller. A TL is a base ship and can dock at Equipment Docks and Trade Docks. From here CAGs can sell the mineral.

Are u sure about that? AFAIK TL can only dock at equipment docks and shipyards, not at Trading Stations.

I got a mobile miner with the max pilot rank that won't destroy asteroids.
He just parks next to them. I have him with a MDS in the rear turret.
He's set to mine Nividium, at -1 number of asteroids and 99 max yield.
The first documented attempt in human history to use a rocket for spaceflight
was made in the 16th century by a Chinese Ming dynasty official named Wan Hu.
The resultant explosion presumably killed him.
