The Truth be Told

Hey all,

I had this idea for a story based in the X-universe so im posting it here. hope you like it and comments are always welcome and appciated thank you
PROLOGUE

The Apollo was the new M2 class Argon Destroyer that the tech boys in R&D had acquired after an unfortunate explosion happened in the last that ripped it to shreds. Someone got fired after that one while being chased out of Argon Prime. It was a new ship that had just been through its shakedown cruise when it got the news it had to return home and be refitted with everything that the techies wanted to try out. The Apollo was also a new variant with a much bigger fighter bay but with less cargo capacity as a result, then again as this ship would only be used in a fleet operation according to the specs it wouldn’t be a problem.

The captain was sitting on the bridge as the massive ship passed through the jumpgate into Argon Prime and set a course for the shipyard to begin the three month over fit that would pretty much guarantee that the entire guts of his ship would be spilled and modified until the techies saw fit that they could be tested, It made him uneasy that so many things could potentially go wrong and given the fact that he hadn’t liked the R&D department much from the start anyway didn’t help matters. The captain was an old man in his late fifties that had just been promoted to commodore so he could take command of this new destroyer but he always thought that the argon military were running short on high ranking officers and had only done this because they needed someone experienced in command.

The bridge was very much a semi circle with a huge view screen taking up the entire space on the straight side and navigation directly in front of it being a long console that took up almost all the forward section of the bridge. The Captains chair was directly in the middle but to the back of the bridge so he could see all the surrounding bridge crew and the entire view screen, to the right of the captain was weapons and fire control systems and on the left where sensors and engineering readouts usually crewed by three or more people.

The captain ordered final approach on the shipyard and the massive destroyer slowly came into the protective arms of Argon prime shipyard to be safe from any threats for the next three months, at least from the outside. He was the first one to go aboard the shipyard through the massive docking tubes that connected them; the captain could still sense something was wrong as he walked towards the shipyard. He thought he felt lightheaded then suddenly dropped to the floor unable to move as he watched someone approach from the other end of the tunnel. How can that be, He was supposed to be the only one in this tunnel. As he watched he saw the strange looking man pull out a trigger and the captains eyes widened, The crew watched from the bridge as the captains docking tube exploded in the middle and panic suddenly struck...

For what it's worth, that irritated me straight away... Don't know if anyone else had the same reaction. I'm hoping you actually meant 'would be appreciated'

Anyway, enough of that- I'm intrigued to see what happens next. I'm sure any Captain would be nervous at having their ship re-fitted as a Research & Development test-bed, then being asked to try out a whole load of stuff that could either make the ship near-invincible or destroy it utterly... Do you have a story already laid out, or are you pretty much making it up as you go along, as I am? This creative stuff is great fun once you get started, don't let a lack of response so far put you off. Could be that people are just waiting to see where you're going from here. I'm sure there's plenty of story to be told just with a test-bed ship, let alone an attempt on the life of its Captain!

i actually have sorts of a plan on what i want to happen but things are subject to change. and about the comments thing i simply wasnt thinking when i put it intending for it to be a joke. I will change it right away

I like the ideal, But taking the captain out that way was strange, usually the captain never lives his ship unaccompanied, unless called to a meeting, then he and his staff attends.
But keep going and lets see where it goes.

that was designed to keep the reader interested and does actually serve a much greater purpose in the overall plot line
