Good man Gisk.... good to see Respawn still doing good. Popped into AS the other week to say a late happy NY, but only Lordasb waved back. Ahh well. :)

Other than waiting for Energy Crystals to J back to 9, everything else is good here. Levi's got a job daan saaf and lives with his bro now, and still chat every so often.

As for the S-Cat, I haven't pulled that out from hiding for a loooong time. Keep threatening to pop back and claim my place in the top 10 attritioners, but never get around to it. Then again, X2 has reintroduced me to the joystick that last got used for MW4.

Anyway, I really shouldn't hijack threads (especially sticky ones)... I did that far too often in AO, and look where that got me. :)

(P.S. It's taken me 4 hours to learn about pressing J while I'm still so that I can make my Mercury do the runs faster... but I'm getting there)

(P.P.S. Heya all btw... ex- MW4, ex-AO and ex-UO player here.. and always willing to help when I can) :P

LMAO :)

Perhaps you should have started on Xtreme Dif, on that you do not have the equipement so you cannot use the J key anyway :)

Until you buy the right ship upgrade that is :)

My recently started new game left me waiting 20 minutes to fly to Terra corp Hq only to fly back to Argon prime for a bbs mission so i could afford some upgrades with the Seta (j key). Which is why its so funny. You have to have been there to appricate humour in it :)

I'm a bit of slow learner (and slow typer too, as I just missed some 10/unit energy from laughing at your post above).... so I'm in Easy Mode at the mo... give it a week of errors and I'll step it up a bit. :)

I'm pretty sure the lottery thing is a red herring.

The stat there is to keep you from giving up, and a few forumites have said that the number of times you play the lottery determines your eligibility for certain BBS missions of high risk nature, or for carting around drunk gamblers.

Besides, if you all of a sudden had 13 billion credits, you could buy approximately 200 fully equipped Boron M2s... end of game?

One more tidbit: Regarding the OOS combat against Khaaks being fixed, the current doc says it is fixed in v1.2. It was actually fixed in v1.1

Targeting via map

Post by dSerk »

Targetting Tip: Did you know that you can select your Target from the Sector Map? Scroll down to the object you want to Target and hit "T". Saves me a keystroke and I can finally target wares from afar.

@Darshu, good notes on the Spaceflies. I didn't know that you need to stun them first. I was on my way back to request a Refund for my spaceflycatcher.

That sector map trick works with all the hotkeys (Info, communication when in range, etc).

Wierd problem you may have and the fix for it:

I've got 3 ore mines in Seizewell, all REALLY close together. So close, in fact, that the entry for one of them is blocked by another. This becomes a problem when one of your fab's ships is trying to buy ore there. If you are in sector at the time, the ship will just loop around in confusion indefinitely. To fix it, leave the system for a minute or two. This puts the sector in OOC mode, and the "math" takes over. Once I have an M2,

I'll try this trick to get an AI piloted cap ship past the asteroids that cover the hidden sector gates. After all, the AI doesn't seem to be willing to hit the gate from the back....
<segue> I was wondering, Gisk! ~S~

Dscapr, If you haven't tried MW Mercs, get on it. Little stuff kicks serious butt now. It's finally possible to come in first in score driving a Raven.... S-cats do well too.

Combat-related:

Make sure to outfit all of your armed ships with fight software mk2, and set your targeting computer from "none" to "autoaim". The guns will then track the lead indicator to a certain extent.

TD's Guide to the World of Solar Power Plants

Since SPPs are a major (if not the biggest) part of the game, there should at leaset be a guide for them!

Hope it's helpful. Enjoy! :D

Wow TD, that was a well written and conscise post. I'm sure anyone who reads it will definitely have a much easier time.

Its too bad I've already got SPPs in all your favorite sectors though, heh, but I'm sure a couple of them could support at least one more... :D

Forum newbs, do yourself a favor and read TD's post, it will save you mountains of pain and indecision when you start building your corporate empire.

if you have any questions about how to interpret these stats, read the manual
Forget the "manual" it's useless.

How about a simple list of the secret keyboard commands.

And not some lame copy of the lies and misinformation that is the manual and online help.

Case in point.

The Strafe command is nowhere to be found. At least not one that will work.

The command for Strafe is in the loadup menu and is able to be mapped to any key or joystick input you want.

It helps in games like this if you can both read, and have the patience to do so. Oh and the desire to not be a total ass and troll the forums with garbage like you are doing.

Shift D (or was it ctrl) docks my ships without any computer or does the docking computer dock capital ships or something?

I'm not really sure what the docking computer is for either.

The autopilot autodocks just fine, and AI ships have no troubles docking as well.

Maybe its a throwback to Elite, when the "jumpdrive" was used to cross intra-system space, and docking was REALLY hard until you got the hang of it. Damn Coriolis stations, who REALLY would want artificial gravity I ask you? I wouldn't mind floating around all day, although I've heard it can cause motion sickness pretty awful in some people.

You are holding down the key right? In order to use the strafe drive you must have it installed in your ship, and then to use it you need to hold down the assigned key (which you can see in the key mapping menu)
While holding down the assigned key, move the joystick/mouse/keyboard arrows in the dirrection you wish to strafe.

@Darshu Thanks! :D
