I am completely baffled by this. What is the reasoning behind this?
Building the hub will cost much more time than placing some satellites..

Rule regarding **MODIFIED** tag clarified in OP. The key thing to remember here is that it is the particular savegame that the stats are generated from, which is tagged or untagged, so even if you normally play a modified game, you can still enter by starting a new unmodified game.

The HUB is simply a legitimate game device which might be used to hasten the accomplishment of the competition's task. How likely it is that it might be used is irrelevant.

In this case, a second date (at least) is implied, with such language as this competition being called Round 1, and "each round" being mentioned in the OP.

I doubt it's been decided yet how many there will be though.

By the way, that start is called Humble Merchant, not Humble Trader... :-)

I'll have a word with whomever edited my post :p

[Corrected]

The competition will be held on 'a regular basis', the word 'round' is simply to distinguish one iteration of the competition from another and does not imply that there is any cumulative scoring or judging system involved.

Absolutely. There will be an announcement once the deadline has passed and adjudication has taken place. :)

You want to know what time you have to beat to win?
The only way you're going to find that out is if people post their times here.

As for me, I'm less than 2 hours in and have most of the cash. I just can't find anyone willing to sell me one adv.sat. let alone enough to build the yellow brick road.

I've built all the way to Paranid Prime so far. I advice that route to everyone. :-P

3 hours in, 8 sats deployed. It's going to take more than an hour just to fly the route, and I've still got to raise the funds for the last 3 sats.

I reckon the winning time's going to be around 5 hours.

I think you could do it in less than a couple of hours, with some luck.
