Gah!

But maybe, as others have hinted, a quick escape? Spacewalk or Transporter (was one of those was ever captured intact?)

Still, if it is the end it closes the circle nicely. Mak the Split ganked by the Boron, after Squiddy the Boron was sushied by the Split.

But nonetheless, great storytelling.

Cheers,

Rob.

Salutes to a great pilot, (dis)honourable pirate and brilliant story teller :x3:

Now we have to wait whilst N-S builds up the tension, before he confirms one way or the other... I wanna know!!!

The Split bards are penning songs of lametation already (or is it celebration delete where applicable :D )

Great story N.S. but more important thanks for the extremely hard work you have put in not only showing us the scope of this game but all the effort in writing, screenshots etc.

You guys are all so full of hope it's cute. Cuddly.

And utterly unrealistic. Have you tried exiting your vessel before it blows? did you notice how the flak arrays and PPCs then target your spacesuit?

Dude's dead and gone. Rightfully so, for letting The Steve get killed like that.

The only question is what will he reincarnate as? And what will he set as goals?

No property list at the end of the post: no hope.
A report by the captain of the ship that killed him (as in the death of Squiddy McSquid): no hope.

But in our hearts, where Hope is King (or should that be Queen?), Mak G'Yvr lives on, like Squiddy McSquid, King Arthur, and the Rule of Law!

Oh noes.

I thought I'd check up on Mak's progress this evening and saw several extra pages appear in his thread. I feared things were going a little south after the infamous 'Steve' incident, and expected the worse.

But with Squiddy, he posted the Captains report a day or so later, not straight away...

Because people didn't catch on and kept hoping, so he posted it to quash misinterpretation. I guess he decided he'd post the captain's report right away this time.

Anyways, just in case anyone has an interest here's the current state of play minus an hour or two..

ie. just before I hopped down to Dukes to sell off those guns so they're all still stuck in the cargohold of 'Two Butties'

And the savegame that goes with it..

Thanks again for yet another amazing adventure, Slug. I seem to recall I've been reading your day-to-day reports for well over six months now. :)

I hope you'll write another one, but like I said before, I honestly don't think you can make it any harder on yourself without it getting really ridiculous.

Did you not have time to just reverse back into the gate? I always immediately kill my forward velocity as I come out of the gate and see what's up. If it looks bad, a quick burst of reverse velocity and you're back through the gate in ~ 5 seconds or so. Of course, with those 24 guns firing at you, that might not have been enough.

I can honestly say that I've never died when flying an M2 class ship in any X game, but it just goes to show that it is possible. (Actually I'm lying, I died once when I seta'd into a gate and the game apparently decided that my Osaka hit a brick wall rather than a gate.)

So, whats next? A Teladi hell-bent on capturing everything and getting 2 billion?

A Terran pilot that decided that everything alien must go?

Maybe a Paranid nephew of the Duke, doing only their missions?

First and unfortunately last post on this thread.
Been keeping an eye on it for quite some time now.
Excellent adventure, fantastic role playing, but above all great story-telling.
Pitty it came to an end.
This forum just lost one of, if not the, most interesting spot.
Good work.

Maybe a DiD adventure with a different goal like capturing one of each Xenon ships? A start as Aldran adventurer and with this goal (while keeping bad relations with everyone but terrans and pirates) could be a plausible story.
