This is on the border of personal attacks, Lancefighter. While I would frankly love to see this thread locked (I'm getting seriously tired of all these complaints) as a reponsible citizen I must ask you to respect the Forum Rules.
dminor, how about this?
One great idea would be to simply accept the situation, or complain about in on the Steam forums instead of these ones, as this discussion seems to have turned into Steambashing rather than actually discussing the X-Universe.
I suppose on those grounds this should really be moved into Off-Topic. I'm sure the mods have their reasons...

Re: Steam service
BAD idea. If you institute a chargeback, Steam locks your account. Kiss every game you've bought from them goodbye.khub wrote:Regarding Steam's service standards;
I have just raised a query with my credit card provider, Steam are not providing what we entered into a contract with them to provide. This transaction is covered by laws pertaining to retailing in your jurisdiction, I purchased via steam as I was in North America at the time of release. My credit card company have refunded the charges and will pursue Steam for not fulfilling their side of the contract.
It's incredibly retaliatory, but that's what they do.

Not true, I know from experience (was dissatisfied with another item) they will only lock the game you purchased from that charge back.lowe0 wrote:BAD idea. Huh. I'd heard otherwise, and did a quick Google before posting to see if this was still the case. I stand corrected.vonotto wrote:Not true, I know from experience (was dissatisfied with another item) they will only lock the game you purchased from that charge back.lowe0 wrote:BAD idea. This may apply if the 20 people all wanted something different, here everyone wants the same thing. And if you are talking about steam only having one person to upload the patches/games that is just insane for a company there size to have only one person that can do that....what if he died or just left the company......would we need to wait 4 months for them to hire someone and get them up to speed on there system????dminor wrote:I would like to see all the bitchers and moaners hold themselves up to the same standards that they are holding up to Steam.
When some one wants you to to something for them, you must do it immediately.
Now 20 people want you to do something, good luck suckers living up to those standards.
Try to have a thought or Idea that doesn't use "I" or "Me". Try it for 15 min.

Sounds like you're bragging. Congrats, you're wasting a credit card companies time because a software patch didn't come out when you wanted it to. Have fun with your credit report.khub wrote:Regarding Steam's service standards;

Yeah, that's going to be bad all around. Steam provided your game when you bought it, didn't they Khub? I don't remember any promise to give us updates AT ALL, nevermind giving us updates within a week. Lying to your credit card company about things like that does not make them happy, and the days of credit card companies handing cards out to anyone with a pulse are gone - hopefully forever. Steam sure isn't going to be happy about the false accusation, either.Predator02 wrote:Sounds like you're bragging. By the way, is this the first ever 64-bit program distributed by Steam? I'm wondering where they are actually going to put this program now. On a 64-bit machine, "Program Files" holds the 64-bit stuff and "Program FIles (x86)" holds the 32-bit stuff. But Steam always puts its programs in the Steam folder which is sitting in the 32-bit directory. Maybe they will make another Steam folder in the 64-bit directory?

No, because it's not a 64 bit program.Zloth wrote:By the way, is this the first ever 64-bit program distributed by Steam?

Also I hope he hasn't got any other games on his steam account because he's going to lose them. Valve generally freeze accounts that try the trick he's doing.Zloth wrote:Yeah, that's going to be bad all around. Steam provided your game when you bought it, didn't they Khub? There are 64 bit programs on Steam already. TF2 has a 64 bit mode IIRC. Possibly some earlier titles.
Also, there's no hard and fast rule regarding where 64 bit programs can be stored. I'm not even sure why there are two distinct folders. Binaries execute in 32 or 64 bit mode depending on what they are, not on where they are installed.
