My save game is just after I landed on the Orbital Patrol Base in Asterid Belt. There's usually a 20 second gap between finish loading and the Terran lecture starting. The rest of my fleet is in the sector 'idling'.

After taking Poole onboard, I and another 2 ships of my fleet (all ships are M3s, speed >200ms-1) head for the Solar Power Plant XL in Heretic's End (need juice for the jump). Then, it's off to the Advance Satellite plant in Omicron Lyrae to wait for the three satellite needed. I tend to leave the station to engage SETA while waiting for each on to be produced. Once I get all three onboard, I jump my two ships then myself to Family Ryk. At this stage of the game, I haven't 'discovered' the south gate to Family Zyarth.

When I pass through the south gate of Family Ryk, I get the message to 'Build Satellite in Family Zyarth'. I fly to somewhere just off the Split Trading Port and use my autopilot command to 'Deploy Satellite Network'. After the first satellite is deployed, I seize control of the craft again to fly to Family Ryk.

Now, at some point not long after deploying the satellite in Family Zyarth, I’d expect a further message to tell me to fly to Family Ryk to deploy my second satellite. But I have never receive this second message once.

Ok, 2 problems.

First, it takes too long to wait for sats to be built. Go find them. I found 6 in the trading station in Family Zyarth.

Second you do NOT deploy satelite network !

You enter the sector, select freight bay, select satelite, and eject one.

No wonder it wasnt working for you, according to the mission director, you never ejected the first satelite !

The MD is very unforgiving of not using the game basics. For example, if your told to claim a ship, you MUST get out of your ship and claim it in your suit or the mission breaks.

Thanks for the tips...

I didn't appreciate the difference between 'eject' and 'deploy'...

One more thing: Do I jump from Asteroid Belt? I need to, at least, visit the Solar Power Plant XL in Heretic's End first.

By the time I got that far in, I was jumping everywhere.

I guess, if its on the map as visited, then jump there. If its not, then jump as close as you can and then speed to the destination.

There are a few missions where dawdling will fail you, and having a slow ship will fail you, as the moment the mission is given, the ship your supposed to protect comes under fire immediately, and your in a different sector. (Not in Terran Plot though).

i must have the worst luck for mission six or something. every system i visit has a xenon q. and its right next to the split elephant :evil:

Here’s something I didn’t anticipate in mission six. In case you think I’m moaning, I’m not.

I tracked down the freighter with jump drive parts and went after it. After taking ship’s shield down to zero, I fired an extra shot and the pilot bailed. After boarding the ship, I found out that it was 78% intact and, here’s the surprising bit, it had a 1MJ shield, which fully recovered.

I flew with two other ships: my normal M3 (Advance Perseus) and another M3 (Advanced Barracuda) and docked my third M3 (Susanowa Raider) after transferring the e-cells, shields and jumpdrive to the freighter.

I flew Caiman with the M3s protecting me and located the Elephant. It was 45km away. While traveling towards it, I noticed that a Xenon Q appeared and shooting match developed between it and the Elephant and it’s decafes. I think the Q eventually took out the decafes, but the Elephant did take out the Q.

By the time I approached the Elephant, its shields had recovered. I commanded my companions to “Attack all enemies” before scanning the ship and I had jumpdrive command ready for action during the scan. As soon as the scan was completed, the Elephant jumped and in confusion I had to re-select my jumpdrive. But there was no decafes! A piece of good fortune?

In the end, I had time to command my docked M3 back to Family Ryk, where the rest of my fleet was waiting, jumped my two companion M3s to Ocean of Fantasy and then the freighter. All turned out rather leisurely.

hey. thanks for the great walkthrough. very useful to say the least! One question tho i never got rewarded with a claymore at the end of mission 7. I docked and received a msg but no mention of a ship ....... did i miss something?? please help :(

edit: HA lol im stupid i nvr looked at the docked ships! i just assumed theyd tell theyre giving me the ship :P

Thank you for this walkthrough it helped me a bit on the later missions.

We need a new command or communication directive. Something to the effect of get out of the way. Especially for the large capital ship at Mars right in front of the gate. I kept dying in the Vidar in two different missions. Only way out is to halt auto pilot first chance after arriving and climb out.


Got to love the board the #deca mission. I can't count how many times I had to reload on that one. Had to stop and save at the food production plant and transfer marines to the Scabbard a lot. Dumb marines just could not find the Scabbard after leaving the #deca.


Why oh why can't we buy weapons for the Terran Ships we are flying for the Terran Military? That is like the DoD telling the men in the field that the Army and Marines do not supply guns and ammo.

All four rapiers I got at the beginning had no weapons. The Sabre had two guns and luckily the Cutlass had 4 or I would not have survived in the Vidar.

Eh? It's not right that all four Rapiers should come with no weapons--the first one never does, but every time I've done that mission the three Rapiers you have to put in a wing each have a single EMPC.

This guide was a game saver for me. I like to explore and I wanted to get to those systems. Got nice ships to boot!

It seems terran ships are head a shoulders above all else. don't know why. I guess the terrible (compared to others) looks balance that out a bit. :lol:

I JUST finished mission six, or i am at least trying to. I spent SO MUCH TIME doing this, and i got the scientist, brought him to the Moon, docked, and got the message to enjoy the view and wait until they contact me with new orders.

I've sat around at the station for a while, nothing. I've undocked and hit 1000x SETA and let that sit, and I still don't get any further communications. I did everything the guide said for mission 6 and followed all the precautions; using the right ships, not killing the decas, etc. Is this the "sitting at the moon waiting for somethign to happen" bug that he mentions at the end of 6?

It sure sounds like it, but i really, REALLY hope its not...

Really? Okay, I'll give it a shot. I've already tried sitting around with SETA 1000x on, and then flying all the way to Earth (where I was promptly killed)... all that time elapsed last try, and i still hadn't gotten any word.

Am i supposed to wait at the station, or in space, or what?

Go do other stuff. Build a station, explore. They will call you back when you're needed.

I want you to know i registered just so i could reply to this walk through. it was great. And after you bug the elephant just jump out of the system :)

I went through it, Broke, and with nothing more than my pleco and 2 rapiers with the advanced discover.

Well right up till i had that awsome Cutlass they give you. came out way ahead on ships to. A advanced jaguar, and a few others not to mention that split freghter

I'm having another issue now. I'm at the end where you have to board the CPU ship deca. No matter what I do, neither the scabbard they give me nor the NPC one (which is selected as the mission critical ship to protect) will attempt to board the deca. I have tried telling my scabbard to board the deca before bringing the shields down, Ive tried waiting to give the command until after the shields are down, I have of course kept the shields down... nothing. My ship takes the order, flies close-ish, and then stops and drops the command. If i issue it again, i can see it accept the command and then drop it. The NPC one just flies around doing nothing and flying really slow.

What am I doing wrong here... nothing I do seems to advance the plot.

I thought they fixed that in v2 ?

Read back here, people have given what to do so that the NPC will always do the job. I dont recall it offhand though. It might be that you dont go anywhere near the Deca, and just wait for the NPC to decide to do it.

The other alternative is the advanced boarding script.

The other concern is that the marines you get couldnt cut through tissue paper if their life depended on it.


Delray, you cant get closer because the ship is under autopilot during the boarding menouver. You dont have any control at all.

Do you mean to pilot the scabbard myself and fly closer, or to fly closer with the ship I am piloting (a cutlass)? If you want me to get closer with the cutlass, well Ive been getting pretty close (even bounced off it), so am I supposed to just get really close and be still?

I failed to mention that I have not been piloting the Scabbard; should I be?
