The idea of playing at high resolutions is so you dont have to deal with ugly jagged edges, etc. The lack of an option to increase the interface size is, in my opinion, a huge oversight. So many other games have these simple options.
I have just started playing with my 1080p tv from my couch (less than 8 feet away) and can barely read anything. I can play other games just fine, not sure why X3's text is so tiny. Hopefully you plan to patch this in sometime SOON.
And I realize this post is semi-old, but I figured better to revive one of these then start a new one.

Ya I agree the fonts need to be atleast twice the size on my 1920 x 1080 monitor. It's the only game I need to play with binoculars.

Egosoft should not only provide a manual with every copy of X3 Terran Conflict but a complimentary pair of binoculars.

The decision to use a fixed size font was one taken very carefully. As players of X2 will remember, using a scaled font means scaling the entire UI and results in the whole thing being slightly fuzzy and indistinct for everyone. In order to get a truly clean, crisp appearance you need to use 1:1 pixel mapping for the UI, which is what the game does. For people who sit a long way from the screen or who struggle to see small fonts even close up, the workaround is to use a lower resolution. Using a lower resolution isn't necessarily as bad as some people are making out. Apart from the fact that using AA should smooth out a lot of jagged edges, if you are struggling to read the font then you probably won't be able to see the jagged edges much anyway!
There is no perfect solution to the problem of clarity vs scalability, short of having two completely different UI modes which would be very complicated and time-consuming both to write and to test. The 1:1 pixel mapped option gives the best result for the vast majority of players, including those who are prepared to set their screen resolution to a size that makes the fonts readable for them.

in complete agreement. dont know why egosoft is the only company ive ever seen with such small font with no scalability. i dont even care about the crispness of the UI at this point, i just want to blow it up. at least the main game will still be crisp. i think that is the most important. instead of having to gimp my resolution.agleave wrote:All I can say is, that other games don't seem to have this problem

I tried your advice and lowering the resolution; this is what it now looks like;
