Ship Piracy Problem (regarding additional script input)

Post by Apexearth »

I started a game and wanted to jumpstart the game by using a script to grant myself some money and change my status with the Argon. I didn't do anything else with scripts but later on in the game I figured out what the piracy command was for and tried to use it. It doesnt work for me and I believe it's somehow broken. The problem is that I pick it, and then choose the ship I want to board, and then another menu selection appears which declares "Script Input" for the 'marines' variable and it shows an extensive list allowing me to choose virtually any object in the X3:TC universe. No matter what I choose there, the command does not initiate. The ships orders remain as "none". Is there any known way to fix this problem? If it helps, I am running the steam app of X3:TC.

Assuming you have marines aboard, I suspect this is probably a scripting error rather than a vanilla-technical one - so I've moved it to where you'll probably get better help :)

Thank you I appreciate that.

I do have marines aboard. And on two separate ships. One which I am aboard, and a separate TS ship. I am in a Skiron. I am able to launch marines via the additional commands. But, not piracy.

I'd recommend you explain from the start what exactly are you doing, and what is the problem.

Is it a command in the script editor that you try to apply, and you run your script that runs this command with "r" from the editor? If so, which command, and what are you trying to achieve?

Or is it a ship command that you try to use? If so, exactly which command? And is it one that comes with vanilla, or with a script/mod DL from here? If it's a community script, which one?

It is a ship command. The Piracy ship command. It should be vanilla. I have not downloaded any script for the game. I only created scripts. One was to give me money, another was to change my relationship with Argon, and one more to give myself some energy cells. I did this in the beginning of the game to give myself a head start. I have not altered an existing script.

Is there any way to edit the original script? I'd like to try and fix it if I can. When I am in the script editor, there a limited number of scripts listed in there. Where can I find the files to look at and perhaps edit the ship commands?

You need to unpack the .pck , then you can edit it. Winrar, for example, can do this.

However, you might first want to ask in the x-universe thread how the command is supposed to work exactly, and what it needs given, if it's vanilla command. Remember to specify the exact command (Piracy, afaik, is a category of commands like "trade" and "navigation").

Wow, what a mod friendly game. I figured you would need a special extraction tool. First I am going to rename the scripts directory to scripts1 and have steam reload a fresh copy of the scripts directory. I've had HD trouble in the past due to overheating. It's possible the files just went corrupt.

Ha Ha! It worked. I'm so happy now. Thanks for your suggestions with this. I'm glad I don't need to dig any deeper into this.
