Military M7's are turning Red...

Post by taishojojo »

...without and apparant reason.
I came across an Argon Military M7 (Mintaur?) in Nathan's Voyage and figured I had fired on it accidentally. I commed it, said "sorry", it turned blue, all better; for about 10 seconds. It then turned red. repeat...
I just avoided that one, figuring it was plot related.
In Barren Shores, I encountered a Boron Military M7. I can't ignore this one. It turns red and starts attacking my ships.
I apologize (even though it jumped in red), it turns blue, then red again, I say sorry, turns blue, then red (blows up a few of my ships in the meantime).
I've had to back up a few saves. (and lost several captures) just to avoid the sector entirely. Which sucks because Barren Shores is a choke point on the sector map. (So is Nathan's Voyage for that matter).
any thoughts....

Do you have any stations producing illegal goods in any of those sectors?

No I'm not that far in the game.
I'm still getting some sector exploration in. I just picked up a jumpdrive and am slowly making my way to the Goner Temple for a transporter and Salvage Insurance before continuing the plot.
One Mort in Paranid Space, 4 or 5 M3s in various states of outfitting. I'm flying the Freebee Skate Prototype right now.
I went back to Barren Shores and there was another M7 Thresher but it had a different ship ID. Still Blue...
So... I dunno.

do any of you caps have illegal goods aboard, because if they do and are being scanned, that would trigger the ships going hostile.

I cant speak to that. There might have been one ship. But I've backed it up a few saves (and have subsequently overwritten those).
I know there wasn't any in the Nathan's Voyage incident because I only had 2 ships and the other was parked (and no contraband).

I did come across something almost immediately afterword.
A Pirate patrol in (kinda like P patrol only pirate)Shining Currents. I killed everything except for a Pirate Kea, since I didn't have one of those.
I docked at a nearby station to save.
Here's the weird part. Afterthat, it acted 'blue'.
I got in behind it (still Red), took the shields and about 15% hull (standard capping routine). Still Red but acting Blue. Still a Pirate Kea that was duking it out with me a few minutes earlier.
I'd pop it, let the shields recharge, hit it again... still... something as when you're trying to cap a ship without turning it Red.

It's almost like the AI IFF goes henky for a minute or two.

Also, I ended upfollowing him back to unmapped Pirate Base in that sector [-41km,-31km,-65km].
Since I haven't destroyed any Pirate Bases in this game yet...

Have you checked your friend/foe settings in case they've changed somehow, best to check the global ones and then send to all properties.

I know people dont like 'bump' messages but...
This is still a problem and nobody has even asked for a save game.
Now, I have a Group in Light of Heart.
This one's bigger than others so it might be combat rank related.
2 M6s, 2M7's, M8
Same as before...
Since this is a core sector I even went to the M2 of the SD and they gratiously accepted my apology for NON-offense.
Still turn back red.
This has happened across 2 separate games.
I am running v1.4 plain vanilla.
So... any help would be nice. This isn't kind of a game ender because they hunt down me and my ships... it is a game ender.
No factories selling illegal wares. No ST's No UTs no nothing my games haven't developed enough before I encounter a group like this and either restart or back up....

I had the same problem, I had a large post on it in the spoiler forum, long gone now...

A rogue argon military cerberus in Herron's Nebula. Exactly the same, I would apologise and it would go angry again instantly...
So, I built a factory on it 2 seconds after apologising and turning it blue, one dead Cerberus and no rep loss. PS. The factory won't die.
