Problem - Minor but irritating. My UT’s only seem to generate this message in my message log:
“Message from Unknown <time stamp>
< blank line > "
Apologies if this has been fixed somewhere, I did search and found 1 slightly related issue (same problem but different case), but no fix.

Ok so that’s the ‘problem’ bit of background info.
This wasn’t always the case, near the start of the game in version 1.21 things where fine, 1 UT got destroyed, 1 managed to reach level 25, and somewhere in between my third UT ‘vanished’, quite literally, no message and I checked my message log numerous times for any entry.
A while later I wanted to reequip my surviving UT, when I started it again instead of getting the message in my log saying it was made by Burnit, someone else, pilots name and some other information I got the “Message from unknown” with a time stamp and nothing else. I didn’t take much notice of it at the time. I noticed the same problem when I upgraded my UT’s Ship, from the Terran TS to the OTAS Super Freighter version, I started to get a tad concerned, because of my future plans…Which I just put into motion.
Upgraded my UT fleet from 1 to 13 in 1 go (well 12 of them are level 1 ST’s for now but yea) equipped, named them, gave them their starting sectors, saved, all good, started the ST command and they all gave that message unknown.
Now while that isn’t bad in itself, it is bad when one of them get attacked and it generates the same “Message from Unknown” with nothing else message, I don’t know if it was destroyed, escaped or even which one it was (and trying to find one in a fleet of 13, plus all my other ships (which are mostly in storage till I can R/E them) is not fun.
I guess is should note that messages from missions are fine, and I was using freighter drones before and I was getting a message saying they had done their job and such.
So I guess the best thing to do is leave my UT fleet grounded until I can distinguish which one is getting attacked…
Hope this information helps, I do tend to drag things on a bit, but only because im not sure which information can help.
I have saved games I can send. 1 with my UT fleet grounded and ready to go, 1 saved as soon as I told them to start trading and getting all the messages, and 1 with the unknown message of which I think was one of them getting attacked.
I wont post a DxDiag just yet because I don’t think its related and I don’t think people appreciate the spam

*Edit*
Decided to run a few tests, here are the results.
Test 1: I sent my UT to a xenon sector to die, and it did, and I got the same unknown message, didn’t get any beeps saying it was under attack, I just checked my log after 2 min on seta. Not sure if it’s worth pointing out that the trading software wasn’t doing anything, I just told it to fly near the Xenon station.
Test 2: Repeat the above test but I ejected the Trade command Software version 3 first, this time I did get a message saying it was under attack, but when it died I got the same message from unknown. Might be worth noting that although the software was gone the pilot was still in the ship.
Test 3: This test involved sending my Vidar in to its death, and although I didn’t get a warning of it being attacked or destroyed again (this might be because I checked what it was doing a few seconds before it got hit, not sure), I did get a message log saying what ship died and what killed it, my Vidar like all my other ships have custom names as well, so naming cant be a factor.
Sp until this is resolved I guess I'll just use the 1 UT and keep the others docked.
If I can do anything else please let me know, hope this helps.
