No M2 will be safe now.

Guess a pod factory, or two in yaki/pirate space wouldn't have helped enough.

Just acquired a Minotaur that had the foolish misfortune to be travelling through a pirate sector with an entirely inadequate escort
Soon as it's fixed up think it's time to give these pod things a go. Might have been the last time my marines have to walk to the target - now they get to travel in style.
EDIT: Not too impressed by boarding pods so far - they make capturing far more cumbersome, having to hop between ships to launch pods, then back again to keep shields down. No good either if you use drones for shield suppression - the drones keep shooting down the pods on their way to the target. Think I'm going back to the old methods - simple, reliable & FAR less hassle. Keeping the M7M though - those Flail missiles are rather effective at nuking fighters.

That must be an 'Outside Context Problem' for the Marines.GCU Grey Area wrote:EDIT: Not too impressed by boarding pods so far - they make capturing far more cumbersome, having to hop between ships to launch pods, then back again to keep shields down. Couldn't you just set your other ship on the "keep shields down" command? No idea how well that would work...GCU Grey Area wrote: EDIT: Not too impressed by boarding pods so far - they make capturing far more cumbersome, having to hop between ships to launch pods, then back again to keep shields down.

...or keep the target under constant attack by ion-guns equipped wing?pjknibbs wrote:Couldn't you just set your other ship on the "keep shields down" command? Didn't work at all well - tried that before resorting to the tried & tested method of drone shield suppression.pjknibbs wrote:Couldn't you just set your other ship on the "keep shields down" command? No idea how well that would work...
Even when the other ship (Carrack armed with 16 Ion Ds) was left in range & pointing directly at the target ship it still kept wandering off when ordered to 'attack shields of...' the target - it fired the occasional burst with its side turrets, but in general was remarkably rubbish at the job.
Most of the time the pods were instantly destroyed when they hit the target's shields, because I couldn't get back into the Carrack & get it back into weapon's range before the target's shields had recovered past the critical threshold. Not really all that much of a problem though - spacesuit assaults are working fine for me so I'll just stick to doing that.
