X3TC Has Anybody found any hidden ships yet?
In X3 there were a number of "Special" hidden ships placed in difficult to get to / find areas around the X universe, Has anybody found any in X3TC - or does anybody know if any have been any deliberatly hidden?

I like that answer!
Does explorer software find them or is it still a case of having to spend a few hours roaming round sectors searching?
I presume the old X3 ones are in exactly the same locations then? any you knopw of in the terran system?
and do you actually have to eject to claim them now or can this be done from your ship console?

I would not mind a hint at sectors to look in including new ones but if you are going to use / quote specific locations please use spoiler tags
as I stil would like to do some serching to find them
I would just like to get a bit of a start in this game as I cannot spend the hours I used to spend on it in my care free youth
I would be interested to know if explorer software can located tham!

This ship in the "Search Map"-mode will NOT find hidden ships unless you "sit" in it (how boring ...) or you do - by accident - open the sector map right in the moment when this hidden ship is in scanner range.
If you're really fed up with searching yourself, just follow Stormsong's link and read the Spoilers

You can also buy ships VERY EASILY from passing by merchants and they are usually way cheaper than in the shipyard, just a bit broken and without most equipment.
I bought a bunch of superfreighters already, netted me hundreds of thousands.
You just have to eject your ship and fix the ship you've bought with repair laser on your suit (just hold RMB and don't pay attention to low energy warnings). Takes a while but each second is lots of bucks.
How do you know they have a ship to sell? They have currency symbol over them on the list of ships in the sector, just comm and ask what they have to offer. I never saw anyone selling a used ship at higher cost than in shipyard so it's always a good deal. Plus you can get really good bargains this way, ships you usually aren't able to buy yet or never bothered to get.
My first buy was Mako Raider, awesome fast ship with good shielding, helped a lot my Humble Merchant to get first missions done. Really added to game experience.

A Repair laser? Wow I really do need to read the manual.
I've lost hundreds of thousands on hull repair, as well as scrapped (Big bada Boo) some capped ships because the hull was so damaged it would take years to get it to the nearest dock to sell.
So basically, Eject, fly near ship, shoot with laser, wait for repairs to complete and hop back in ?

am i doing something wrong here ?
I've got the co-ords of the ship I want, when I go to them (which is now incredibly hard due to no ecliptic projector any more, who's bright idea was that ?) threes nothing there, in addition to the above im not even sure if im in the correct place because the sector map whilst displaying xyz co-ordinates fails epically to tell you which is which.
so help

I don't know if the co-ordinates given are from X3 or X3TC but the ships appear to be in the same sectors you may just need to look a little bit more, you also need to be virtually on top of them and be looking at them to get a register on your scanner if I remember correctly, they are usually behind an asteroid or blocked by somthinglips of a moose wrote:am i doing something wrong here ?

Actually I never used the Ecliptic projector in any of the X games all you need is the sector map and the navigation command "Move to Position".am i doing something wrong here ?

The co-ordinates listed are as in order as your read them down on your sector map.
your left, right,up & down number pad arrows
(when set on default sector map view)
will set co-ordinates to the positon on the ecliptic plane.
This is the X & Z co-ordinates.
The Y co-ordinate is the vertical plane you can view this with sector map open and pressing the insert key (Toggle to switch between planes.)
Now set your Y co-ordinate with the up & down keys.
