Yup, aparantly the american release got all screwed up. And SO Deepsilver gave Steam an Exclusive release. And the word exclusive to me says it will never be relesed in the US. At least not at current version of the game. SO ego is gonna loose a lot of money on this release because of it. I say this by the simple fact that not everyone in america wants to order a UK versrion or deal with steam. Those people will now not have X3tc and Ego will not have their sales.
Now where, in all the forums available, did you read the word "exclusive"? Just because Steam is the only distributor does not automatically mean it is exclusive, it probably just means nobody else would touch it. If Steam sells lots of copies then other distributors might, possibly, change their minds and try to grab a scrap of the action.

I assume exclusive could mean exclusive at release time. But I read it as Exclusive period.

I assumed Deepsilver because all release type stuf seems to be passed on to them lol. Got that from reading the forum.

A few pages back people were asking for the manual, and told that it was illegal to release it due to copyright issues. I know this is probably too late to be of any use for most people, but I just noticed that Steam have hosted it on the Terran Conflict product page, and have probably been doing so for some time, so for the poor few that are still waiting, here's a link:

Particularly since a section later on in the same newsletter says "Right now X3TC is available exclusively through Steam". To me 'right now' implies things may be different in the near future.

My Egosoft copy didn't turn up this morning either

As you say I'm disappointed but not angry. I'll probably be playing it for the next couple of years so whats a short delay really mean?
It better turn up on Monday though

Wish I had your patience. I am angry, but no point in saying it on the forum ^^

Would like to know if play.com buyers have received theirs? I canceled my play.com order (made it like 2 months ago) and bit the bullet, paying a lot more for the game hoping it would arrive on time.

I might just pop to game and see if they have it in stock. Maybe a friend wants a copy.

I was searching for X3TC and this site came up. They're asking $59.95AUD + $5.95 P&H on pre-order with a release date of 23/10/08. (some other sites are stating 31/10/08?)

Not a bad price and the attraction for me is that they use Bpay so no credit card! I've noticed some posters seem to have an aversion to steam and online credit transactions ( I must admit I would like to avoid them where possible too)

Anyway just throwing this out there, hope it helps

Bought two copies today in Aberdeen (50% of those that were available on the shelf) - one for Aberdeen and one for Norway..... downloading the patch at the moment (on dial up) - so I have enough time to do some chores that will then allow me a whole evening to play....
