That sun in the top right has a black box around it, marring an otherwise excellent image.

If you have the PSD file, simply use the magic wand on the black, delete it, and then the sun will look natural. I guess if you shrunk it a bit, it wouldn't look too close to the planet either.

And could you link to a bigger version? It'll look really ugly and pixelated if I try stretching that on my screen.

But how did you make that planet? Did you have a source planet, and then added rings, a black back, and stars, or was it from scratch?

Hey there!

Glad you like It.
Actually I saw the black box around the sun my self earlier to night, and ill fix that later.
And yeah I still have the psd file here. ! So it wont be mutsh work to fix the sun and all that.

And no there is no bigger version I made it that small but ill make a new one that is bigger more to a standard size of wallpaper. ;)

And no the planet is entirely made by me in PS from scratch except the clouds that I copied out from an cloud texture I have and merged it to the planet in PS.

The planet doesnt look too bad, but the sun is better than any we have in the game now..lol. I like the jagged edges and flares shooting from it, in game I saw a couple that looked pretty bad, so good job.

Hi MightyOdin

I know it's nearly a week since you posted but have only just checked creative forum.
Good job on the planet clouds. One thing i'd say is that if you draw a circle around the planet you'll see that instead of a spheroid it is rather elliptical.

Also, to my eye the rings look slightly too low around the planet. - see red lines in relation to white axis lines. or to put it another way raise the rings to meet the white axis line by the short red lines amount.

Thirdly the suns highlight on the surface of the planet is in slightly the wrong place for where the sun is placed. Also too much of the cloud surface is illuminated for the position of the sun - unless there is an unseen source of illimination off screen. If not then there could do with being some more shadow obscuring the rear off the planet - and possibly some off the rings would also be in shadow.

On a positive note I think you've done a really good job on the rings. impressed with those.

I wonder whether a little colour below the clouds would help make the planet seem less monochrome and two dimensional?

And possibly have a play with filter/render/lighting effects on the "rings" layer - that way I think it'll only affect the rings rather than the whole image. Only an idea and I dont know if it would actually help the look of the rings.

Looking at the haze around the sun I can see definate concentric circles in the haze. Possibly apply a slight gausian blur to blend the haze?

I hope that you don't think that i'm slagging off your work as i'm not. Merely offering my comments.
Good Job and happy PS'ing.

It's a great first post here, well done.

I had criticisms, but Maju covered all those. And explained them better than I ever could.

Keep it up!

Hey Maju

Well I want to say thanks for the c&c I really appreciate it. ;) One can only learn from earlier work and god C&C as you have made, you pointed out some nice things that I haven’t considered, tho am more of a 3d modeller than ps creator.

It were my first tire at an 2d/3d environment in PS and I wanted some pointers to the work and that you did ;)

Ill note this and use that C&C for all it is worth nexst time im doing and scene in ps.

Best regards
M.O

PS: also here are the sun and the planet I used to make this scene so you can se, then separately.
